Led DLP, LCD, or Plasma

I personally have always been a fan of LCD. I own a DLP (not LED) and the only thing I don't like about it is its not nearly as bright as an LCD, and when watching in 4:3/standard definiton the picture is bowed/pincusshion/flared/geometry is off, however you want to call it. Not only that but the silk screen is really noticeable to me. If I had the money for a plasma I'd really want to try out the Pioneer Elite/Kuro's but those things are expensive.

this again sounds like a problem with your DLP...

sounds like your screen has sagged or is not installed properly. also sounds like your screen could use a cleaning if you are noticing it...

And yes I clean my TV weekly...

I have posted on avsforum as well. Many other users who own the same TV I have, have the same issues. You can look through the thread if you would like, it's not just my TV.

I have had Samsung come out and replaced my screen and tried to re-adjust my screen. It just has to be 1/4" and under for it to be "within" specs. But it's still well noticeable even when its 1/4" of a "pin cushion, hourglass effect is what they seem to call it too".

well, then it might not be "your" tv, but it is definitly "that tv" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

thats not typical of a good dlp. again, my samsung has pristine picture quality that holds its shape all the time without a keystone error at all. and even when my screen is dirty, i still dont get any negative effects from it.

bought a Westinghouse 47" 1080p over the weekend and it looks awesome.

Reg is 1500 and i got it for $1000

if you dont have directv and need a hd tv best buy has a special "if you buy a tv over 1k and get directv you save 300 bucks"

I did that and cashed in some rewardzone points.

Anywhoo

If your not a hardcore videophile then its a good tv.

Its an LCD btw.

I really like it

I was going to get a plasma but I really didnt see to much of a differance in picture to be honest.

What model is your DLP? I've been told that ALL DLP's have some pin cushion, some have very little, some have a lot but they all have it. It is ONLY noticeable in 4:3 mode/standard definition. When watching something in full 16:9 it is hardly noticeable at all, most the time not noticeable unless you are really trying to spot it.

mine is a samsung DLP. ive never noticed any picture incongruities in it.

not to say it is the best, because i know its not by any means. but i have been VERY pleased with it since i go tit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i also got the best buy warantee, so before that is up, ill be getting the bulb replaced fo free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You say it is definitely not "my TV" but it is "that TV". You and I have the same set, except yours is 6" bigger then mines. The thread I linked you to is for all the HL-S models. Mines a Samsung HL-S5087W. I have an extended warranty as well, not from Best Buy though. I'll stop posting here, I'm ruining this guys thread. What's your budget for your new TV?
