Learned alot on Friday

Then I would take what they said with a grain of salt a bit. I'm not saying they are not right or anything like that, but no need to just blindly trust anyone with out your own research. I have used many HDC subs and I throw a good amount of power around at them. They do have some limiting factors, but they can take a large amount of power. The last time I used them(less then a month ago) I was using an AQ3500D at 1/2 ohm daily with clamped burped power at 47hz of 4865 watts with rise to 1.7(ish) ohms. They lasted and worked just fine until I tuned way low to see how long the suspension would last while playing 15hz cycles. Answer.....not very long what so ever with that kind of power.
To think you were only getting 1k is a bit odd as I would put money on it that your setup would have had much more power then that.

thats what i was thinking. but by what i was told it was just 1k. but my wire hasnt burnt or anything. my voltage never really drops unless played excessive say mins constant and thats sitting still will driving it never drops. but ima go with bigger wire anyway and add batteries because i havnt been running any.

Upgrading wire and getting a battery or two would not hurt. If you already have a H/O alt then you would be set for what ever power your thinking of running.

i dont have a HO alt yet just stock. but working on all of that. Ive got finals coming up and tryna have everything installed and set. by the way tho i dont do burps. my comps are constant play for 3 rounds back to back to back. its an overall average

Then you need an alt ASAP regardless of your setup. When doing runs like that batteries are ok, but a good alt will save you.

Haven't really read the thread but OP if you decide to rock the AP I believe that has 4g inputs so just do a run of 1/0 to the back and get a distro or something to bump it down to 4g. It has those slanted terminals so you can't really just use a normal 1/0 to 4 reducer. I use CCA 1/0 and Knu OFC 4g

just kinda scared for the sub now because all this time i been thinking the sundown was probly doing like 22 -2300rms. but then i was told the 4 gauge was probly not allowing 2000rms though the wire. so ima play it on the safe side a bit more

and going with 1/0 gauge
Im with Pro Rabbit on this 1...

An amp will pull as much as it can pull regardless of the wire... this gets the wire hot... which is why you upgrade wires

small wire to an amp is more of a fire hazard than an amp hindrance

well like is said the wire has never got hot i check it evertime i run a comp as soon as i get out the lanes. its never hot or change colors for being burnt

Apparently you didn't learn much, "alot" is not a word.
what are you talking about?

ok with that being said. should i just keep my 4ga if i get the ap? and keep my 150a anl?

He is meaning you didn't learn much at all by hanging out with other people as the title of your thread would indicate.

I suggest upgrading. It is better to side with caution on something like this.

ok i was just asking because it has 4ga inputs (power & ground).

i'm pretty sure i remember that thread that OP is talking about (if i remember correctly, it was on FB)... dont remember everything that was said, but i think you may have misread what was being said... everybody was trying to tell you that it wasnt the safest thing to run your amp on that size wire, with your impendance load... not that it would somehow lower your amps output (again, i dont remember the whole thread, just going from memory)... but like everyone else has said... with that amp, pushing that amount of power... upgrading your electrical would be MUCH safer... if you end up melting that wire, it can cause a short, and possibly, a fire

You can use reducers or distribution blocks in the back.

Limiting you power/ground wires is only hurting the setup and if you decide to upgrade you will need the larger wire anyway.

If you are competing then I'm not sure why you would want 4 gauge in your car?
