it is not leaking at the mirror...it is leaking at the end of the weather stripping stuff (dont know a better name for it) which ends an inch or two from the mirror.

Instead of silicone, or maybe in addition to, use weather stripping. If you use silicone, do it at the source, not where it's coming out from. If you do it where it's coming out from then the water will build up.
