Layoffs... where's the logic?

The crap economy makes me not want to be an american so much anymore.
I've already looked into moving overseas.

I've always wanted to do an extended stay in Tokyo. Maybe now is a good time.

I'm surprised no one's said this yet: CHEAP LABOR. That's why you see a bunch of crying Americans seeing their job or jobs being shipped over seas. And I think its wrong. WE have to make a living also. But at the same time, the unions are getting in the way which companies are getting sick of. Example: Boeing. I'm a CNC machinist and I hear/read about this all the time. Someone makin 30/hr at Boeing *****in about not makin enough $$ or the benefits need to get better, etc. QUIT *****IN. I'd love to make that hrly. Everyone will see that the cheap labor guys will be kept and the expensive ones makin way more $$ will more than likely be let go. In other words, saving company $$. Speaking of layoffs, my wknd job just got rid of 43 people. My daily job is planning a layoff next week. We'll see how things go I guess. Am I worried? Not really, since I got 2 jobs....just wait and see.

I had 2 jobs at the beginning of the last week of January. Been at one going on 4 years and the pt going on 2yrs. I had that same attitude as you do here and guess where i am now? I lost the full time the last week of January and turned around and had the other company i worked for and my wife for that matter go out of business. Titleist golf clubs iron set

Good thing for Craigslist, that was fast, easy, and quick cash. Those items sold fast as hell.

About $800 in my pocket now, enough to make a car payment and catch up rent.

Sorry to hear that. But fortunately, at least my wknd job (it's f/t) is giving me 40 hrs. They reduced hrs. in the past not too long ago. My daily job which is f/t also, has reduced hrs...workin 2 days on and two days off. It's nice having 2 days off/wk. so might as well take advantage of it. I've been doin this for about 3 yrs now. My wknd job plays games as well. They rather hire someone with little experience rather than a journey person just because they don't wanna pay 20+ hourly. Which IMO is BS...they want good people but yet they dont wanna pay. My daily job is going to lay off more people next week. If I have to start selling things around the house, I will. I'll do what it takes so I don't lose my first house. Seems peeps on here are doin that already. Unemplyment in this state has jumped to 9.2% highest its ever been. Unemployment is good but has its downfalls, doesnt pay much but better than nothing. My mother in law is unemployed and so is my mom. Sux right now, but we gotta survive...it cannot remain like this forever.
