Laying down batteries

Is it ok to lay a Deka 9A31 on its side? When I start my 2 15's build the only option I'm going to have to mount my battery is in the bed(really don't want to do this) or lay it down under the box. Any problems with doing this?

If it's a sealed battery it will be fine.

Wouldnt see you having a problem with it, make sure its secure though.

The manual or mounting instructions will tell you. Depends on how the battery was made. AGM is usually fine in any orientation.

If it's a sealed battery then yes. I can turn mine upside down.

YES YES YES.. its an AGM batt.. it says right on the tag.. agms are fully sealed NON-SPILLABLE (also on the tag) batts.. turn that bish upside down.. lol

I've read that even with sealed batteries, you don't want to go upside down with them. Any other orientation is okay though. I couldn't tell you why, it was a few years ago when I read that and I don't recall the entire ordeal. I'm sure you can research it and find out but as long as you're not going to put it upside down (which wouldn't make sense because that'd take up the same amount of space as leaving it right-side-up) you don't have to worry about it. Just make sure it's secure and do not jump your car with that battery connected, should they drain.

AGM batteries and other types of deep cycle batteries can sustain cell damage from high amperage charging. If they should die, you'll need to trickle charge them.
