yes, I know it keeps the spl in the trunk, but if the port is blowing inside a sedan cabin. It doesn't necessary mean it will be louder. And if that were the case then EVERYONE would be doing it and making special boxes to blow the air inside the car. Also. I've had Infinity for 3 years and I am getting rainbows. Used to work at best buy and got Kappas for $120 bucks. So you can't base that off my knowledge over 3 years ago.First off, you have Infinity speakers, so your knowledge base is fairly limited. (Yes, I'm biased against anything Infinity.) Second, any type of gap opening between the trunk and cabin of the car is beneficial. And watts don't have anything to do with getting louder from different types of installs. Also, last I checked, subs are louder when the trunk is closed so the SPL is kept within the car, not floating around mid air. But, hatchbacks are just about always louder than a trunk setup, hinting because the pressure doesn't have foam, or metal from the structure to go through.
Edit*, Pioneer, I got you covered. No good way to explain a false statement.
Trunk setup competitors remove their back seats, have the subs firing into the cabin, and seal the box off from the rest of the trunk. Not everyone can do that because a. their back seats don't fold down b. they don't want to remove their back seats.yes, I know it keeps the spl in the trunk, but if the port is blowing inside a sedan cabin. oh stfu. I didn't make fun of him at all. Not in front of his face, I told you I went along with it. IT is a kicker box that is ported with prob 3 cubes don't know what the tuning is but the port is a circle firing port prob 6-7'' in diameter. It didn't seem all that loud when he put the back arm rest down to have the port firing in the cabin. From what I always learned it is best to keep all SPL in the trunk at all times.im doing my build tomrrow in my 03 tiburon hatchback. i have one si mag claw in a box tune to 32 hz. im doin sub back port back(slot port). its all about finding what works and if your friend is happy cool. dont make fun of him your not a good friend and if u think you know so much help him and tell him why what he did is not really helping him. your not a true friend and he will see this soon.
Yeah, I know people put their backseats down. I see it all the time. but I was saying just one little 12"x4" armrest with the port firing into the cable shouldn't make a difference at all.Trunk setup competitors remove their back seats, have the subs firing into the cabin, and seal the box off from the rest of the trunk. That's why they put the meters in the dash, you never know when you want some of the SPL stuck in your trunk to reach the cabin.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif:crazy:oh stfu. Thats because you are right. IT will be louder with the seats down because the SPL is traveling backwards into the cabin. I was just trying to point out that a little hole with the port air firing into the cabin in no way should make a difference.ive found in my buddies tarus in a sealed box his kicker coms sound louder with them firing rear with seats down. however it will bedifferent in different cars. just my .02
