Well, my dislike for their amps stems from the fact that I can't stand JL's overpricing to begin with. The amps are very boring looking in my opinion. Whenever I install a system in my vehicles I like to go with something that is aesthetically pleasing. So that way it's easy to fit the amp or amps in with my install's theme. I couldn't picture an install where those would look good. I'm sure some would disagree with me as well as some will agree with me. Looks are just as much subject to opinion as sound is and I happen to dislike the look of JL very much. I'll take my Pioneer Premier PRS series amps over JL in terms of looks, price and perfromance any day.You know what is interesting about that???
JL started as a company that offered high performing products at lower prices than the competition. Just when others started jacking up the price of their subs JL came in and took the industry by storm with their lower priced offerings. But....once they got the name....all that changed.
They still make quality products. And compared to what is available...I am not sure what it is about their subs and amps that are hideous? OK, the subs are industrial looking and some may not like that? They look like they could be part of a German made CNC or robot.......But the amps? What's not to like? They just look like aluminum blocks with black fins?
