The reason I was buying it is because a deck of that ugliness and lack of features for that kind of price is just something JL would do.

Why do you say that? Sure, JL stuff is expensive, but they definitely don't have a reputation for putting out stuff that is ugly or lacks features.

I'm glad it's a joke. That thing looks like a turd with buttons. Reminds me of Radio Shack's old brand, Realistic.

Why would I say that?? Its simple. JL does put out good quality and I will never dispute that. Personally I think their subs and amps are hideous. Which is no big deal because I believe in function>form. Looks aren't everything. Its just that JL puts a good product and puts an OUTRAGEOUS price tag on it when its quality doesn't demand a price like that. I guess its just that JL is sort of arrogant when it comes to their products and prices. So that is why I said that.

I was referring to the part of your comment about the deck being ugly and lacking features. I'd be shocked if JL actually put out something like that.

You really think their amps and subs are hideous? Interesting. I hear tons of people talk about JL being overpriced. You're the first person I've ever heard say their stuff is "hideous". I disagree wholeheartedly, but it's nice that we all have varying opinions.

JL started as a company that offered high performing products at lower prices than the competition. Just when others started jacking up the price of their subs JL came in and took the industry by storm with their lower priced offerings. But....once they got the name....all that changed.

They still make quality products. And compared to what is available...I am not sure what it is about their subs and amps that are hideous? OK, the subs are industrial looking and some may not like that? They look like they could be part of a German made CNC or robot.......But the amps? What's not to like? They just look like aluminum blocks with black fins?

I'm in agreeance. Those amps look awful. I feel the same way about a lot of subs, especially anything from Kicker.

I have black 500/1s and I think they are dead sexy.
