Lanzar Opti Mini Amps

I bought a refurb one of these on ebay for $109 shipped. It's not installed, but i tested it to make sure it wasn't DOA. I ran some test tones through it and it will do rated power + in 2ch mode. They don't really rate it in bridged mode, but based on my testing it will do 300+ bridged. (got it up to 485w bridged w/ the gains all the way up and no speaker attached.)

Here's a pic of the internals since it's not on ampguts.

Edit: testing was done measuring volts with a DMM, so take it for what it's worth.

Interesting looking board. Clean enough - but I don't see anything that says "500w rms" to me. Hmmm??

Can you post any higher res pix Chris? How big is that main transformer?

I've come across a few people here and there buying and/or running those amps. Always asked for a review and never got one. Generally - no news is good news. People always seem to report back if they want to vent about their problems with a purchase -- you don't see many "works great, sounds great" reviews.

I don't think it will do 500 rms, lol. I got roughly 485w maxed out with no load. I'm thinking between 300 and 400 rms bridged on 4 ohm. (which is probably why they don't advertise the bridged output as rms, just max). Seems it will do the advertised 150w x 2 though.

Honestly, I have no idea what I'm looking at when looking at internals, so I don't know what the main transformer is.

There is a small circuit board? of some sort that hovers above the main board, i guess to save space.

Here's a larger view of the same pic. If it's not clear enough let me know and I'll try to take some more pics.

edit: When lookin at the pic in the link, you can click on "view original" just underneath it for an even larger pic.

the 250w x 2 rms rating equates to 500x1 at 4 ohms bridged.

The main transformer is the donut shaped coil of wire in the lower right of the pic.

Sometimes it's hard to tell just how large something is in a pic without something of known size near it.

I'm no amp expert either, but I would guess that elevated board has to do with the full-range digital processing.

its lanzar.... dont expect much.... when you can buy something at the local swap meet you shouldnt be asking too much about it....
Haven't you heard anything about the opti line? Very decent budget amps from everything I've heard. I don't think they are anymore, but the older ones were made in the US. Do a search.

i own a opti 100.2, solid amp, used it for comps, awesome amp! lanzar was a very reputable brand about 10-12 years ago in car audio, i still think highly of them but they are more popular in europe than here

just my 2cents steer clear of anything below their optidrive line
