Lanzar amps

I have heard so many reviews of lanzars i have no idea what to believe!! So i heard that the original lanzars were good, but now their new stuff is crap except the opti seriers. ugh i want to know what you think. if its a good amp which is their best one to get for like about 200-300?

Late 80's through late 90's Lanzar (essentially) only made Optidrvies. All of them were excellent.

In about '00 they started branching out with Vibe and Viberant to get into the entry level market.

In 01-02 Lanzar dropped Zed Audio as the supplier of the Opti's.

The Optidrives are still solid amps IMO, but now they have Vibe, Viberant, Heratige, and Max - which are just your basic decent budget amps, and all that cheap stuff has muddied the waters and really hurt lanzar's rep as a whole.

At least that's the way I see it.

All the cheap stuff is decent for the cost, but the power specs are very misleading so a lot of people dump on them w/o even thinking about it.

Only if you blindly believe the output claims so garishly splashed across the amps' chassis.

If you take like 12 seconds and go look at the manual on Lanzar's site (assuming you didn't buy one bnib) those power ratings are considerably more believeable.

im looking for about 1000+ watts at 2 ohms and i want it toi be bridged too. and in the ballpark of 200-300.
sounds like you're looking for a mono amp.

Don't get me wrong - I've been a Lanzar fan since the early 90's, and I routinely defend them on here for some reason, or at least make a case for the other side of the story.

I agree with you for the most part, but the Heritage ratings are still way off - even in the manual.

Plus - a lot of people just go to the websites and take the ratings listed there to be accurate. The rms numbers on the website itself are, in most cases, not even in the ballpark.

I'm just saying I understand why it's easy for some people to lump them in with the "junk" brands.

I've never personally used any of their gear.

For what you can source a Lanzar for new personally I would rather buy something more reputable used but that's just me.

If someone has good luck with something that I think is junk then more power to them! For my needs I would rather buy something I know is going to be reliable.

Look for a Vibe1200d these amps will do rated power and are solid ,not junk.

Lanzar Opti through late 90's=some of the best amps made IMO

Current products=ok IMO

Price if buying new=would rather buy something better used or another brand NIB IMO

I have the vibe 241 it slams. I had a 400 watt Diamond Audio it was amazing I traded it for some Orion C15s, now the Lanzar (I got free) it is 1000watts max but I figured it pushes around 350 watts rms. I was very wrong it is twice as loud. Before I was metered at 138.3 on a Term Pro meter. It's a Ford Focus hatch with 2 12in Distinct Audio PP12s (made by Crossfire) in sealed 1.5 boxes. For the price I would say go Opti or Vibe 241, but it depends on if you have a trunk or hatch as well. I used to have an Opti about 8 years ago it was a beast. Well good luck
