Well my friend was sold me 2 12' kicker comps and a box for them, bunch of wiring shit, a brand new Kenwood (kac-7203) 1000 watt amp, and a 12" Kicker L7 (brand new) for $250 it was a good deal because i only wanted to L7! Well I made a cheap box for the L7. I was hoping to install it today before work but i didn't know what way to wire the sub since you can wire it 2 ways and also if the amp was the rite one for the sub. I was looking at the manual for the sub and I saw that there was a 2ohm and a 4ohm sub, i have the 4 ohm sub and what ever way i wire it it is a 2ohm load or a 8ohm load. But I asked my step-dad if he knew what way it should be hooked up properly and after looking at everything he said the ohm's need to be the same on the sub and amp. My amp is a 4ohm load so he said i might have to get a different amp for it, but I don't want to go buy a new amp if there is a way to make it work on the current amp i have. I don't want to hook it up the wrong way and have a chance of **** the sub or amp. So if anyone can help me out Id appreciate it a lot. If you need some more details on the sub and amp just tell me and I will tell you all i know.

You will need a mono amp that does power at 2 ohms. The amp you have bridges to 4 ohms and will now power the driver. The only way you can use the amp for now is to hook up the sub in parallel and wire it to ONE of the channels on the amp. Needly to say, it isn't enough power.

You can run two sets of speaker wires to the sub. 1 set to coil 1 + and - and the other set to coil 2 + and -. Then those wires go to the amp. One set per channel L and R.
I never thought about wiring it this way but I guess it works logically... right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I am just going to buy a different amp now and my cousin is buying my 2 10's that are in there now so i will have some money to get a different amp. So now I need to know what is the best amp to use with it. I also need to know if I need to add another battery since I will be running 4 amps once i get the amp for the L7. But I'm pretty sure that to keep the amp powered for the L7 Ill need a 4 gage power and ground but I already have a 4 gage power and ground. I cant use it on the new amp or my truck will have not door speakers and then it would sound like crap.

None of this makes sense. Why do you have 4 amps? You should have one for your speakers and one for your sub. I suggest the Kicker ZX750.1 for the L7. I have owned it year a year now and it is a beast of an amp.

Which model kenwood amp do you have? I have ran many of there 4 ohm stable amps at 2 ohm even 1 ohm all day long without an issue and barely even getting warm. You can either wire it to 8 ohms and get much less power than it wants or see if that amp will run at 2 ohm.

I have 1 amp for the front door speakers, 1 for the rear door speakers, and a amp for the subs that are in my truck right now. I wan to keep those subs in my truck when i add the L7. But if they don't do anything for my system ill just take them out and sell them and buy a screen or something.

I will probably buy a new amp this weekend for the front and rear door speakers so there will be 1 less amp I will have to worry about

and all i will have to do is just wait and see if the 4 gage well work or if ill need to use 0/1 gage cable

I have a kac-7203 Its a brand new amp but my friend throw out all the manuals and warrenty on both the amp and the sub and just found the manual online so I'm looking at them and determining the way I will hook it up till I find a different amp for the L7

I wired it up to 8ohms and bridged the amp and wired that up in my truck last night to see if it would work on the amp, it seams to work for now and hopefully it will stay that way till I get a different amp.
