Konaki/DD hybrid a no go

Well, lets draw this out and go REAL slow so you can understand. A recone is making DD a whole $20.00 to $30.00 a piece. A DD subwoofer is marked up lets say about 100% from cost for dealers. So, lets ASSUME that DD would like to stay in business and make money and that they are making more then $20.00 to $30.00 a subwoofer. To stay in business you need to make a profit and selling better parts to a crap company that knocked off your Dads subwoofers (Audio Que) and only making a whole $20.00 to sell a RETARD a recone (that they are going to come back to a forum and B*TCH about later) is not going to keep you in business. In my opinion, if you have to ask more then once on a forum about this, then you are not smart enough to buy a recone in the first place.

****, you went REAL slow and still could't type with correct grammer or capitalization:confused:. Oh, and Audioque is one word:laugh:.

If you own a store, and refuse to sell a customer an item where you only make a $2 profit margin, what is the use of selling it in the first place? Besides, that's why you manufacture more than one line of a certain thing, in this case, subwoofers. In my opinion, if you're going to be picky about making $2 versus $20, then you're not smart enough be selling anything anyway. Making money is making money, whether it be a cent or a hundred dollars, and if you didn't know that, then good luck in life:rolleyes:.

Wow, I see the light... You are so right.. Don't worry as long as the company is making two dollars per product! Help cheap companies profit off of a superior product and workmanship. Maybe you should approach DD and talk them into letting Seven Elephants (Konaki) have all of their sub woofer lines built in China and they can make money just selling re-cone kits for them. Sounds like a very well thought out plan and I am sure they will go along with you.

(P.S. I am sorry for all of the large print on the really big words. I will try to make it easier on you and go sloooooooweerrrrrrr for you with better grammar...)

Doesn't really matter to me because, I really don't care either way!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

DD is very wierd about recones, 1 the 9500Gs dont have serials, at least mine didnt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. They are rather tight on the 3500 series recones as they did have serials from the beginning.
My guess is that they just didnt wanna sell you a recone
Agreed.

They don't want a random bunch of nobodies calling them up and getting direct prices for no reason.

DD is somewhat a "dealer oriented" company, they don't want anybody and everybody buying directly from them. That's mainly for competitors and dealers.

Why do you people not understand that?

It's not a hard concept to grasp.. lots of people don't seem to get it..

Just cuz Fi will send a recone to anyone & everyone, doesn't mean every company will.

DD has enough exposure & business that they don't need to sell petty recones to make money..

Not saying Fi is doing that, but Fi is most certainly not as big as DD.. & making less money.

You don't make a million by selling soft parts alone.

First off, lilmaniac... fine, you got me on that one but no more freebies, I hope:D.

Secondly, audioinformer... you must not know anything about making profit. Where there is a product that makes less, you should have another that makes more. Your first post in this thread stated $20-$30 profit per recone and now you're talking about a company making $2 per product. Get your shit right before opening your mouth, and congrats on learning how to use spelling check in your last post.

You're acting as if the person that needs a recone doesn't get it from DD, they'll turn around and buy a 9500 from them...when they won't, and, if they're buying a $100 knock-off, most likely, never will fall into DD's target market, from a price point perspective. If these knock-offs weren't available, I doubt too many, if any, of the people purchasing them would have spent 5x the amount to get what would have been a similar product in the DD. They'll find something in their price range, which DD does not offer.

They're throwing away profit, whether it be $2 or $20, it's $2 or $20 that they wouldn't otherwise be getting.

If they wanted him to go through the dealer, they should have told him what dealers are available in his area. To straight up turn away a potential customer, regardless of what kind of profit he would have drawn, is simply idiotic, from a business standpoint.

Furthermore, there's nothing DD can do about Konaki, except realize the potential to bring in a little extra profit through recones, even if they are pushed through dealers.

Like I said before, if they don't have a serial number, give them a non-branded dust cap, and offer no sort of warranty whatsoever on the recone.

The only reason we do fab up recones for other woofers is for the DIY guy, such as yourself.

Sure it'd be much easier to say no, we don't want to sell you a recone, buy one of our subs instead. However, we dont //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

i Think Recones are a great source of support for products, i personally would go with a woofer that offers me a recone option with little hassle over one that doesn't.

Every subwoofer line that the ''little guy'' could recone himself should have this option. No matter the company.
