Kinetik was built off forums and competitors???umm it helped I am sure but i seriously doubt it was what made it. There are bigger things that determin that BY FAR than that. Did competitions make kenwood? pioneer? alpine? regular sony? Are competitions what made audison? DLS? how about Diamond? the shop I worked at in 97-98 sold diamond and sold it well without any competitions or stunning victories in the SQ lanes (when we sold it competition never came up! unless they wanted to see my firebird and that did not have diamond!). Pyle was HUGE in my area because it was made close to me and they didn't win any IASCA finals. What about companies like Pro-tech speakers (pj's autosound Erie, pa)? Every car they entered at IASCA finals won and several retired undefeated...where is that company now? What about OZ? There were winning contests left and right and they were a TOUGH sell as a rep I learned that first hand! When companies like RF were selling big they weren't winning contests....at least not like they were in the late 80's.....
Now before you go twisting what I said up there into meaning that Kinetik doesn't support competitions or competitors then tell me why so many people use it? Why does Kinetik actually support finals of all the major orgs? They actually bought booths at DB drag finals, kinetik actually helped support USACI finals and won Manufacturer of the year in USACI 2008 finals. Who sponsored the after party at db drag finals the last couple of years? Did you know Kinetik won over awards from a distributor that also sells another battery line that is a forum boner?
Do you know the first car audio contest that Pat from kinetik went to was with me when I competed at SBN? He had to hitch a ride with a friend because he had to work at the time that we left and I was in Ohio helping getting the car together..doesn't sound like a big deal does it? I mean we both lived in NE Indiana and he stayed the night in some hotel in downtown Daytona that had roaches in it because he got in too late to locate us in our hotel:laugh:. Neither one of us had worked for a manufacturer yet at that time and he had a BLAST. That is more than likely where he caught the bug to do things for shows. If I went to a big show like sbn he went same with the now defunct Midwest Nationals..That used to be up by Clear Lake Illinios and was the first time I was able to hear Mark Eldridges Toyota.
Who stabed who in the back? Did Kinetik sponsor you at one time? Was the price good? If it was high priced did anyone twist your arm to get it? Did you have other options and did you use them? In the race to 0 you seem to think should be going on eventually you would think you would find a company that will give you equipment and maybe even pay you on top of it? If it doesn't matter then why carry on? IMO you either didn't talk to them and just said "I want batteries" or you didn't talk to who you needed to talk too. If your "team" has a hundreds of people in it and they all live by dealers (if they are already not a dealer) how do you baby sit them to make sure they aren't doing what you suggested should happen? Do you think actual dealers when they find out what goes on don't complain? Or do you now just deal with companies who don't care about those businesses or don't have a dealer network? Since you don't comprehend what a distributor does do you now hate Kicker, Maxsonics, RE, US Amps Pioneer, MA Audio and Fusion because they are in the WSH? Do you know most car audio battery companies are in some kind of distributor?
Yes, I truly believe kinetik would not be in the position they are without the FREE advertising they got on the forums and being in the competition lanes for many, many years. Look at their main advertisements! 180 db this, 180 db that, scott owens, kyle witherspoon, "congrats to winners here, winners there".
Yes, Kinetik was built upon a reputation in the lanes and THAT is why they are as big as they are. Of course, it does help to get products very cheaply and then market them to the extreme and wh0re them out across the country.
Many new companies are only as large as they are because of the forums. A few of those include: Fi, Ascendant, diablo audio, sundown, incriminator, just to name a few.
I don't like that Kicker is in wholesale either. I know a LOT of dealers don't like it as well because they can't compete with the prices that wholesale house sells for. No argument there. The companies themselves are what sank the audio industry, imo. Had they continued to protect authorized dealers and shops like they had in the past, we would be in a different situation. But, as I stated earlier, the companies are out the make as much money as they can and I can't hate them for that, but they stepped on a lot of toes to get there, including (yes, again) people that helped them get to where they are today.
Yes, a LOT of companies have been very successful over the years with zero involvement in competition, but kinetik is NOT one of them. Period. I don't care how much *** kissing you do, if it wasn't for the reputation they got in the lanes (and especially in bassrace), they wouldn't be where they are.
Quite frankly, the product is decent at best. The only thing kinetik REALLY has going for them is great marketing and a lot of customers out there to spread the word about how great kinetik is. I've seen more dead kinetik batteries out there than all of the other brands combined. Explain that one to me? Cheap chinese buildhouse what?
Frankly, I'm glad I never pulled the trigger and purchased any kinetik batteries because I KNOW I can get a battery just as good, hell BETTER, than a 2400 or whatever for less cost, even without being on a "team".
