If I am going to be running two subs should I go with a 2 channel amp?

either a 2 channel or a MONO amp.

Usually Mono amps can handel a 2 ohm mono load

Some 2ch amps cant do 2 ohms mono

So if the sub is 4 ohms, then I should go with a 2 channel amp. But if the sub is a 2 ohms, then I could go with either, as long as the 2 channel could do it?

No, a Mono amp will be fine at 4 ohms.

It makes no difference relly.

You usually but the sub before the amps, then you know what to look for

For instance

1 shiva is DVC 8 ohms add another, you get 2 ohms when wired in Parallel ( 2 ohms final load)

So are 2 ohm subs better than a 4 ohm? Because what I have been seeing when I look at the amps specs:

Example:

400W x 2 @ 2 ohms

150W x 2 @ 4 ohms

Does that make it that a 2 ohm sub hooked to that amp would have more power than a 4 ohm sub..?

It depends on how many VC the sub has.

2 ohm woofers or 4 ohm woofers, its amp dependant

No VC config is better than the other

if its 2 ohms final load, they will recieve more power than the 4 ohms final load

Bare with me here, what does VC mean?

So first I should pick a sub... Then find an amp that has about or the same RMS wattage. Is that correct?

If so, what kind of things should I look for in a sub?

Does Pheonix Gold made good subs? And didnt they say Audiobahn weren't very good?

Just for an example these are the specs for the RF HX2

Rockford Fosgate HX2:

dual 4-ohm voice coils

power range 150-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil)

peak power 1,000 watts

Now if I were to go with two of these, then I would need an amp that had an RMS of pretty close to 1,000 watts right?

PG are good subs.

Audiobahn woofers ****, the amps are fine

For the RF's 400w a sub would be good, 800W rms.

or a 1K watt if you want to spend more money

hey yall i need major help my girl has a 10in rockford fasgate sub in the back and 2 pioneer 220peak 6x9's with a jvc 200 watt deck,450 watt amp the sub has 300 watt peak so it is not bridged the sub sound fine but the 6x9 crackle when you turn the bass and volume up past 28 the deck goes to 50 shouldnt the 6x9's handle 200watts if they are 220 peak?.....let me know what i should do to fix the cracleing oh and also when i fade the speakers to the front the sub goes off then when i turn them all the way to the back the sub goes back on is this supposed to be like this it seems that the 6x9s are wired into the amp but i checked wires an cant figure how that would be i dunno much about it because bust buy wired it dont sound like they did a goo job HELP ME!!!!

Ok.. How is the JL Audio 12w3v2? Is that a good sub? If so, what 2 channel amp should I power to it?
