I just got a sub in my car, and right now I have some like Bass Boost knob. I have it because if I do not want bass I can turn that all the way to minimum and then turn the bass on my radio settings down and then all the bass is gone. Sounds like it is completely off. I've been reading and every time a bass boost knob comes up people say it is very bad and will kill the sub.
EDIT: So I looked around, and I have a 16 ft turn-on wire running from my amp to a 20A fuse in my fuse box. I'm guessing that means when I turn the car off and on the amp will do the same. So if I just put a switch on that wire, will I be able to turn the amp off and on when the car is on? And my battery will not drain if left on?
