Sound system issues HELP

After two years of having the same head unit inside my truck it turns off when it wants to. It also turns off when I press the buttons on the head unit itself as well. Before the system turns off when it wants to the sub will play for about 10 seconds and then the sub will cut out. It has a 12 inch sub woofer and a 250watt amp attached to it. I changed out the head unit and it does the same thing with the newer one. What could be the causes of this problem?

Bad connection or ground.
