Kicker vs JL Audio subwoofer

I currently have a Kicker comp c 10. It's powered by a Kicker 500.1 amp. I'm trying to determine if it's worth it to switch the sub for a JL 10W1v3-4. The sub is in a down firing sealed box with 0.74 cu ft. The vehicle is a crew cab Silverado.

I just swapped all the other speakers out with JBL stadiums. My goal is better sound quality. The kicker is nice just trying to see if it is worth it to switch them out.

By the sound of it your looking for more low end, just switching subs will never be enough. The .74ft3 sealed enclosure is your limiting factor. Especially low end extension wise. That C10 sealed in that airspace almost certainly peaks in the 50's or above and in that cabin what you'll get is punchy bass that knocks but no lower end extension that'll compete with the peak you currently enjoy... lol.

A ported box may be just what the doctor ordered. Keep the C10 and redo the enclosure if space allows.

I thought sealed boxes were better for SQ? This sub was originally in a ported box in a jeep before I bought the Silverado. It sounds better in the current box but I think the ported was to small of air space(it was a kicker box/sub combo).

A well designed ported enclosure can be surprising, so many folks think any ol' ported box will serve. In reality most off the shelf or even manufacturer supplied ones are tuned way too high for any real extension.

With well defined goals and expectations a decent enclosure designer can work wonders. Driver choice and available space are just the tip of the iceberg.

Is that the key500.1?
Understand its power vs speaker impedance.
Which kicker comp are you using? DVC or SVC?

Don't confuse SQ with lower frequency response.

There might be better SQ 2-ohm DVC subs to pick from. Budget might need to go higher.

Start here and run the 4ohm DVC parallel for a 2ohm load on amp. PartsExpress has it in stock.

For a little more, consider the Sony ES 10".

With an addiction, will it ever stop? And, audio is an addiction. Can it sound better? How much do you want to spend for little increments? This is when you jump to the Audiofrog GB, Acoustic Elegance, Audiomobile, StereoIntegrity or others

Which JBL stadiums used in which location? I like those in their price point. Hows their sound in your application?

The comp is the older C model it is a single voice coil 4 ohm. Haven't installed them yet. Waiting on a day off, hopefully Tuesday. I also got a lot of sound deadener to install in the doors at the same time.

This is the speaker I have vs what I was thinking of going with.

Got the JBLs installed. They sound much clearer than the stock speakers.

Not sure how much the sound deadener helped. Road noise is about the same. The doors do sound much more solid closing now compared to before.
