kicker SOLO X vs JL AUDIO W7

Anyone who thinks the Solo X is better than a 13w7 for an SQ application must be smoking crack.

The competitors who use the Solo X in competitions never use it for SQ judging, they usually rely on the L710s or 12s, if they use Solos for the SQ judging at all.

The Solo X CAN sound good, but it doesn't have a particularly exceptional amount of displacement for being such a large, expensive driver, and it certainly isn't anywhere near as adept as a W7 for accurately reproducing music.

Kicker won't even try and claim that it is, because they know it isn't. There's always a few dumb kids who think Kicker is the best, period, and equally as many idiots who think that the W7 sucks, and that it can't get loud.

In the hands of a competent user, you can get the W7 perform exceptionally well for ANY application. Oh well, ignorance reigns supreme over most people anyway... :thumbsdow

I've seen the Solo on ebay for under a grand but that is used.. but come to think if the solox has a lifetime warrenty then why not? but the guy with the supra is obviously lying but oh well, people lie, its human nature just cut him some slack... and the JL audio W7 it's a good driver no doubt come to think most drivers are its just varied upon peoples taste in bass. some are SPL some are SQ / their both good subs!

correction people, the solo x has NO warranty. NONE whatsoever. It has a replaceable cone called a spair, which is only like 200 retail. But i repeat, it comes with no warranty whatsoever. And kicker does claim that the solo x does great sq wise in a 3 cube sealed box. Supposedly that is what gary biggs used to win an award, but we all know subs move less than 5 mm in sq appliacations, so that claim is a little misleading

ok ok ok...... no need for everyone geting mad here. what i said was my own opinion i guess. i feel that the w7 is over rated, and now i think that the solo is going to be very soon. the reason for that is i have alot of people coming to my shop and now on this site saying "this is the best". well i think its a matter of opinion and how much money u have. and i think that we all forgot the subject at hand, there is someone asking us for advice, and we're arguing over a matter of our own thoghts. so lets tell our advice and let him compare notes and decide for himself.

This thread makes me laugh, rolling on the floor.... I said i would leave but i cant leave because of all this dumb lieing posts. There so hard not to laugh and read. I guess a reason for staying would be to read all the stupid posts lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif

not to be offensive here, but has anyone done their research before they started going off on a JL Kicker war. For one thing,

"The biggest subwoofer yet from the Kicker labs, the Kicker SoloX S18X pushes Kicker's ground-breaking square subwoofer technology to its most extreme levels ever. While rated at 5000 watts RMS (10,000 watts peak), the S18X isn't simply a one-note wonder SPL machine. Not only did it win two world championship titles in its first SPL competition, it also provided bottom-end for an IASCA/USACi sound quality world champion vehicle. "

On the other hand, I have the JL, LOVE IT and its good enough. Considering you don't really know what to get and just want an opinion, there is NOO way you could possibly want to have 5000 watts RMS in your car. In terms of quality, if you look above, you can see that it does have that too, but for friggen 1800 bucks, the JL looks like a cheap toy and that is the one criticism of the JL (PRICE).

If I were you, and were looking to spend a good amount on a sub, buy even two 12W7's and youll be blown away. No doubt about it

i wouldnt really call that research, you took that straight off the kicker website. Besides like i said, in an sq comp, subs dont move more than 5 mil, so basically any sub will sound good only moving that far. I speak from extensive expereince with both subwoofers. Sq-w7 solox-spl

theres no other way to look at it

ok for the guy who wants pics i will send some when i get back to az, im in denver.and for the the people saying you cant put 2 solo's in a supra ur ful of shi*.and for the person who said the shop owner fuc*ed me he can eat a big fat dic*.the solo x's are mounted magnet to the bottom of the trunk. they r in custom 1" plexiglass boxes and the whole top of the trunk is seald in 1" plexiglass. i have two optima batts . and 0 gauge wire and a eq and bass knob.they fuc*in pound jl will prolly take it in sound quality. but i have never heard jl w7's in a car. so i cant speak there.and u can buy the solo x on e bay for 599 brand new but they are not on there all the time and they prolly wont come with a warranty.

so you have some solox's in a bandpass? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif (i know he didnt directly say it but most people who mention a plexiglass box usually mean a bandpass)

that will be the new trend.

solo x in a band pass..1 inch plexi huh? Im sure that 1 inch plexi can hold 216 pounds of subwoofer. You sure you dont have L7s man? Not even 2 inch lexan can support 216 pounds of sub, and withstand the 160s you should be hittin. I would love to see some pics. Prove me wrong
