kicker prefab box

I AM Teh Burgar KING!
i have two kicker comp c12's in a kicker prefab box. im guessing this box was designed for these speakers alone? but in the stereo shop, they were selling the boxes by themselves also. so would i be able to put in some 12" CVX in this box, or what? would it not sound as good? or any other type of 12, even if its not kicker

You could put just about any 12 in there and it would work fine. Thats what I have in my trunk right now.

Is the box ported?

For subs that will get loud like a cvx, you'd prolly wanna get a ported box.

Also mind ur amp, b4 u consider any other subs.

yea its a prefab ported, heres a picture of it. was thinking about getting another kx400.1 and getting two Mmats P2.0 12 and throw them in there. have each amp powering each Mmats. im sure the mmats P2.0 12's will be louder than my C12's (only 150w rms) so all together im at 300 watts max with my 2 12's in this prefab. but here is the box and subs:

I would definitely not do that. Any 12' should technically drop into that box, but they will still not fit. Prefab boxes are usually tuned really high and made with very poor quality and are thin and weak. A box for a pair of Comp's would be half the size of a proper box for CVX's too. And if you were to throw 2000 watts at those CVX's in a little Comp Pre-fab box, the poor box would shat itself.

thats what i was afraid of. so i wouldnt be able to throw in any other speakers in this kicker prefab then huh? its tuned for these subs alone. that sucks.. im happy with it, only 350watts at the moment all together running the subs. it gets loud, but not loud enough.

i could build/have built a better ported box, that would fit a few different types of 12's in in for cheap right? i heard like 20.00 would get me all the wood i need, and im sure home depot can cut the peices in the lenghts i need.. so i guess ill just have to build a ported box... ill give these comps and prefab to my wife then.

Probably be spending more then $20, u need glue too. Also more then 50% the time Home Depot wont get the cuts completely right. So ur probably gonna need a saw to cut the wood too. I think if u tip the guy he'll do it right. But It's def gonna come out to more then $20

ok, i wont do that then.. im not good with wood cutting or anything like that.. ill see if the stereo shop can cut it and build it for me. maybe someone on here when i get the extra cash.. im happy with my prefab kicker with the c12's for now. but i know i could get so much better. im thinking about getting 2 10" L5's and another kx400.1 amp. thatll be a good 1000 watts. i should be very happy with that after this setup which is pushing 400 max when i feel frisky. but nominal its around 300-350. gets alot louder than i thought it would, but it wont last long. maybe ill go back to my old setups.. single 12 setups.. like a 12 or 15" Fi Q -- should push over 1000 watts, if done correctly. right?

actually those boxes bump, they haev a 6" aeroport with a machined end...for the power, they sound amazing...but, they are built with the Comp 12" in mind...you really can't drop just another woofer in, and expect it to be optimized for it.

Typically materials for a box are around $40. That is if you only need one sheet of 3/4 and proper supplies with it. Buy HD's wood and you cut and build it yourself. Like I said, any 12" sub should drop into that box, but most 12's would choke and blow that poor box apart. You might be able to get away with interchanging those Comps with some P1's of something similer. A low-end sub that requires small space and low power. But when you get up into high end stuff like the CVX, no way man. Could you imagine a pair of fully loaded 12" BTL's being burped in that box!

if ur looking for a audio shop to build u a custom box, u'll be looking to spend at least $150. There are probably members here in FL that can build for u for under $100 since they wont have to ship. I heard the Q's can take 1,200-1,500 daily. Havn't tested it yet.

P1's? are you talking about the Mmats i mentioned? i was going to try dropping two 12" P2.0's in it and getting another kx400.1

i agree. it does get amazingly loud on only 350 watts total. sounds amazing in the car, but outside the trunk rattles like a mofo.. when my wife is driving i can hear her about 2 blocks away, but the closer she gets all i hear is the trunk rattling.
