Kicker Kx400.1 problem

Hi, first post and I'm already begging for help. I just got his amp, was working in past car and am not having any luck. I have had previously an amp setup, although it's been a while with that wiring since i've used it.

Anyways, I installed the amp tonight and nothing. (no power, no protect..no nothing). I get 13.8V with key switched on, ground is on a bolt for my seat that is on bare metal and remote is also 12v.

With all that, i'm not sure why i'm not even getting protect. Do I have to go through and do my power terminal and redo the ground (although i'm getting required power out) Any help would be appreaciated

Ok, well I changed out the fuse block at the battery (still swapped although 1 end was loose)

I'm now getting a constant 14.25v to the 12v and at remote I'm getting 12.56v. The amp now starts in protect and "tries" to go to green..and then right back to protect. Should I redo the ground or am I missing something else

btw, power is 4ga and ground is 8ga (do they need to match for this amp since the last didn't require it and ran).

new ground is 4ga. New pos terminal wired in at the battery. kx400.1 still starts in protect, tries to go to power and the goes right back to protect (this cycle continues until I turn everything off.

To double check, I hooked up the old amp in it's place and it fired right up. Any thoughts?

Definitelty sounds like your amp is shot to shiiat. LMK if you will be needing another 1. I have a Kicker KX600.1 $140 shipped

wow, a response....sweet. I figured as much but wanted to verify. I picked that amp because it seemed to match well with a pioneer premier TS-W1207D4 (dvc 4ohm down to 2ohm) that I had just got.

Oh well, back to my POS xplod amp for the time being

I would definitely like to sell my amp, but I want to help you out also. The first thing you can do is take the external cover off and take a picture and post it up on the forum so that we can visually see if something is fried internally. That would be a good start for you at the moment. Take about 4-5 GOOD CLEAR PICS of the amps guts and post it on this site for further review.

water damage of some kind....This is all under the removable piece that contains the RCA's and controls. Didn't want to have to open it, but now I know.
