Kicker KX 800.2

My friend just bought a quad 2 ohm audiobahn immortal sub. He has a kicker 800.2 and the sub is wired in series/parallel to a final 2 ohm load.......digital multimeter read 1.5.....im pretty sure its right. The amp will shut off if the gain is turned up to what its supposed to be at......the only way it wont shut off is if the gain is almost all the way down. It doesnt go into protect when it shuts down......it just turns off.

It will come back on when the gain is backed all the way off. I even tried free-airing a kicker 15" L7 dual 4 off it and it still shut down.

Anyone know why its shutting off?

Im not sure if this is right but i would say because the amp isnt 1 ohm stable. Its drawing too much power to handle.

needs a 4 ohm mono load, not reccomended for a 2

what in the HELL are you doing giving that thing a 1.5 ohm load???? its supposed to be at 4!!!!!!!!!i own one it has been the ONLY **** amp that NEVER shut off on me on my sub set up.

I thought it was 2 ohm stable??? It does work now though. We figured it out to be the ground and it has been running at 2 ohm stable for a while now. So it would run better and still put out rated power at 4 ohm mono?

The amp is technically running at 2 ohms right now not 1......When i measured the coil it was 1.5........im pretty sure that is 2......... running it at like .9 or .8 would be a 1 ohm, I think. I didnt look up the specs for the amp, i just figured kicker would have atleast made it 2 ohm mono stable.

2 ohm stable in stereo, 4 ohm stable mono.
