Ok heres the deal.. late last week I had the system goin drivin around.. and i started to hear this noise.. it was like when the sub would hit, it would kinda sound like it was slapping.. so i turned the amp off, and i turned it back on yesterday and it did it the same.. even if its not turned up.. so i take both 12's outta the box and look at each one very closely.. one had a detached + V/C (not even the one makin the noise) and the one makin the noise i couldnt find anything wrong with it. could it be the amp? or the box? the amp is a Crunch Powerzone P1100.2 id have to measure my box its kinda old i dont remember the measurments. Good News is Kicker is replacing the one with the detached V/C.. waitin to get it back to send the other so i get free shipping. any help would be much appriciated!!

i tried that. i took both of them back from the dealer I got them from the one with broken coil they sent back immediately, since UPS was still there. the one that was makin the noise, since they know me so well, they let me hook it up to there amp, which was different then mine, and it didnt make the noise, free air or in one of there ported boxes. so they said take it home, and see if it does it again, and at worse if it blows ur warranty isnt up for 6 more months. so when i get home i took it, put it back in the single 12 box i had for it, and it makes the noise, so i tried runin it stereo instead of mono, still happend. turned the gain all the way down the LPF all down and the bass boost down. and slowly turned each one up and at barely a little turn it does it. could the amp be the cause? i know its not an amazin amp but it does what it supposed to do.. maybe whatever cause the coil to break off and melt caused something to go wron with the amp?

the RCA's.. i havent checked yet. i did actually think about it after it got dark and i was puttin my rear seat back in.. ill check tomorrow. if it is bad i will just put the set i got from Kicker back in.. even tho they dont match the rest of my stuff. is there anythin else that could be the cause? the rca's are hooked up the my "sub-out" rca's on the back of the h/u, could they be going out? im just tryin to think of everything possible to check all at one time. that noise isnt the sub blown is it?

Ya if you have a LP filter on both your amp and deck, and theyre both on they can cause some problems. Use only one filter, either the deck or the amps. If its a mono amp, turn the decks filter off if possible. If not possible, plug the rca into the rear outputs instead of sub out and try it..

Well some you cant turn it off, and some dont even have one. LIke my alpine 9851 doesnt even have a filter on it, so i use the filter on the amp and thats it. Is the amp 2 channel? I dont know anything about those amps. If you can turn the filter off on the amp that would be easier to try. Turn the amp filter off, and it plays voice then that means the deck filter isnt on or doesnt have one.

panasonic CQ-C703U is the deck. the deck's LPF cannot be turned off unless i cant figure out how. its settings are 80hz 120hz and 160hz. the amp is a 2 channel. uploadin a pic. now

Most any two channel will be able to run "full" as in no crossover.. So in that case, turn your filters on the amp off and your deck will do the low pass filtering for you.. See if that makes it sound any better. I read another thread where some guy was having the same problem and turning one of the filters off fixed it.

doing "full" would be were the vocals alon with bass comes also from the subs.. correct? and which setting of LPF should be on the deck 80/120/160?
