Kicker comp.

Ok so my best friends friend gave me a kicker comp 12 to recone. I told him several times that it's not worth fixing and he is convinced it's a great sub because he spend 300 $ for two 12s. So I was like whatever dude if ur willing to pay me for the work who am I to say no. So I tested the leads cuz he said it was blown and the the leads tested to 7.8 ohms and it's an 8 ohm sub so no real issues there. But the coil rubs sooo bad that I pushed the cone in and it did not return to center. So I cut the old cone out to see the problem and I was amazed to c that the top plate seperated from the magnet slug. Now my question is, is it worth my time to fix this piece of shit and get a recone from Dave (teampsi). Even with the kid paying me 20$ an hour plus materials and gas to drive to and from his house?

dude....its money in your pocket..if he thinks its agreat sub i would do it for the money.......however if hes stupid enough not to realize he can get them cheap as hell off line he deserves to spend the moeny for the recone.

just buy a new one from ebay, then take it to his house, charge him more than you paid, make money, he wont know the difference

why not just help the guy out, piont him in the right direction??

We all experienced buying from shops that only care about making a dollar.

I thought going to a forum like CA.com,DIYNA,etc... where about learning & helping each other out???

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

If he's refusing to listen to reason, snag a pair as cheap as you can get 'em and then charge him slightly more than what you paid. Or hell, be a nice friend and just charge him what it cost. That way you won't waste your time and you won't be dicking over a buddy.
