Just received my kicker 700.5 from onlinecarstereo (quick shipping btw). Ordered last thursday and arrived today. Anyhow, the birtsheet state 'Total Maximum Power Output' = 972W, is it correct to assume that this is peak power?

I would assume so, given the mention of maximum power.

Someone should be along to give you a definitive answer though.

If it was from most other brands I'd say peak, but given kickers reputation for undderrrating their amps, it may actually be RMS.

MTX rates theirs the same way. It says Total Power but it means Total RMS power not Total Max Power

keep in mind that you'll only see this power using a 0dB tone @ full volume. Not with music!

I have a DMM so I will use it to set my gains.

sub ch rated @ 420, so I will use that to set the gain, arsenal is dual 4 ohm so i || = 2 ohm load:

V = sqrt(420*2) = 28.98V

amp 1 & amp 2 will be bridged, rated 165 x 2 @ 4 ohm bridged:

V = sqrt (125*4) = 22.36V

I am setting it at 125w b/c that seem to be the optimum setting for the 6.5 SLC's from members here on the forum. Or i can just do 4 ohm stereo (70w x 4) and leave amp 2 unloaded for future 6.5 coax for rear fill.

Can someone verify my voltage? Also, i planned on using the 80Hz @ -3 db for sub ch and 1KHz @ -3db tones for component set. Thanx.
