But, the newer 10001bd are not so great.

I beg to differ . I have several what you guys call "old school" models of both , as well as new models of both . And this is coming from a die hard fosgate fanatic. As was said by several people it's a flip of a coin really. I would take either.

no way in hell is kicker better than rockford cuz rf amps r extremely underated and well thats just me...

I have a couple of the A style bd1000's that average benching in the 1400-1500w rms . I also have a couple zr 1000's that average benching in the 1400-1500w rms. A lot of what is being considered now a days as under rated wasn't really. Most ratings back then were done at 12.5v instead of the 14.4v so widely used today .
