Kick panel venting?

First post,
Looking to build kick panels for my 3rd gen Firebird, will be using MMATs 6.5” driver. I’ll be using a spare set if oem panels fit the base, sonotube as the enclosure, with 3” of mounting depth.

If I open up the panel and let air move into the area behind the panel, is this sufficient? I’m looking to avoid the effect of adding a speaker baffles.
