Kia Sportage?

I probably wouldn't even keep it full warranty length. We called a local place back in Missouri, and found a brand new one for $14,000. That's about $6,000 off of MSRP options and everything. Payments I believe would be about $230 a month. Once I am able to get a job, I'll get a truck, but seeing my girlfriend is the only one working at the moment (I stay at home with my daughter), we have to stay economical, and within our budget. If you want to suggest a different vehicle, please do.

Meh, resale probably sucks, not to mention it's probably not the best built vehicle in the world.

Off the Toyota website it says the 09 Corolla starts at 15k, for a car that will last you the rest of your life and should have good resale plus MPG.

Where are you in Missouri?

my folks had a kia sportage, we were on a road trip and the transmission just shelled out

to make a long story short they didn't want to replace it, so we had to pay for it out of our own pocket, and it took like 2 weeks to get there, it sucked.

i'll never buy from kia, but thats just my .02

Do you need an suv or would you be willing to get a car? My gf just bought a toyota yaris brand new with decent options for 13k. You can get the sedan for just a little bit more and they are toyota so they should last longer than the kia. If you need a bigger car I have heard great reviews about the toyota corollas. Both the yaris and corolla get around 35mph at least. My gf's yaris has gotten 43mph on the highway.

I would rather an SUV with 4x4 option, since it floods like crazy around my house. I've looked into midsize/standard cars, but they're a little too small for my comfort, but it'll be my girlfriend's daily driver. I just don't want to to get stuck on 'deep' water. (6 1/2+ inches) I was in the process of buying a 2000 Ford Explorer, but that deal fell though. I would rather have something newer with some type of power-train warranty, so I won't be being used, unless it's certified.

I'm located in Southwest Missouri, about 30 miles south of Springfield, just by Branson.

Good cars. If it's one of the new ones, I wouldn't mind driving one. Can't beat the warranty either. The Koreans have come a long way in the last few years.
The one I have right now is a great vehicle. I was 'racing' an '05 Mustang GT, and kept up with him until it was time to shift. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I've road the thing pretty hard trying to get around here, 'cause I'm not used to aggressive driving like Texans do.

I'm an hour north of Springfield. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If I were you I'd still drop the extra money on something better, the Corolla and Yaris were already mentioned, Honda Fits are supposed to be good too.
