KHARPS' blowthrough

this is making me want to cut my truck up!!
Just go for it!

i don't understand what you meant when you said "the sub was reconed that way"? why can't you just spin it a little? wtf?
When he reconed it he put the dustcap on crooked. I wanted to keep the mounting holes in the "normal" positions incase I ever swap them out for something else. To make the right sub look like the left, the holes would have to be rotated in a different spot and then the next sub I put in there would be crooked. I know it sounds dumb but I've already thought about going with 4-12s so I know these won't be in here forever.

Thats not a big deal. Infact a gasket would solve that problem completely. and if your going with 4-12's you will need to rebuild anyways lol.

Haha I wanted to go with 4-12s right off the bat but I'm in the middle of moving out of my house at school and then I'll have to move into another one in August so I don't want to use up all of the space in my bed. But I'm liking how it's sounding so far...my cd player skips like crazy though.

It's sounding good so far but I need to get this dialed in properly. When I set it by dmm with a 50hz tone it gets to 47.xx volts at only about 1/4 gain and it isn't loud at all on music. But if I go over 54.xx volts the amp starts make a noise like it's being put into stress (when the tone cd is in) But that's the only way it will get loud. It was the same way with my 1500d too. Any suggestions?

Mine skips too.. I have to hold mine..
Only other option is a CD changer in the back for me.
Yeah man but mine is nowhere near as loud as yours so I don't know what the deal is? The only thing I can think of is either my 2-channel is shaking like hell being mounted on that beauty panel or because I didn't install the supports that came with the cd player kit.

Looks good man. This was the one thing I was trying to avoid with my truck, lol. Luckily I was able to move the rear seat up enough to get the room I needed, lol.
How is your setup sounding by the way?

My Clif amp did the same exact thing..

Ask HutnerW how hard it was to do my gains.. Mine would make a weird humming noise for no reason and then soon enough it blew.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif haha don't jinx me man! My 1500d did the same thing when I was setting my gains. I said **** it and just went ahead and set it by ear and had no problems with it. I've listened to a few songs today full tilt with it set by ear and it doesn't get warm at all...neither do the subs. The gain is right at half (I know that doesn't mean much) but the subs don't seem to be being pushed too hard or anything.

Edit: I set the 1500d by ear to the point after it would make the "humming noise" and used it for a few months with 0 problems

Kevin,

Looking good so far. You can get by with 15 1/2" tall for most 15's, so you should have room when you decide to upgrade.

I'd at least paint the box with some outdoor house paint to help waterproof it as MDF and water do NOT mix at all...
