Keep sony head unit or get something else?

Yeah I only wanted the pioneer bc it was touchscreen, can play movies, dual Bluetooth stuff like that it's a pretty nice touchscreen radio but I think the Sony head unit I have is decent also kind of a hard decision.

no the sony deck is actually 40 rms on the amp dyno. Its a good deck for most average joes and bassheads, requires a direct 10 gauge run to the batt. Its really not that bad of a head unit. also has 24 bit dac, time alignment and a few other options. Perfect for a stealth install as well since you can wire front and rear to one channel at 2 ohms and use the other for an efficient low powered sub.
the rear bass enhancer thing does pretty well. Used tang band 6x9s subwoofers on the rear deck and a pair of components for a buddy's setup. Sounds like two 10s in a sealed on 500 watts in his car due to the sound directed straight into the cabin.
That is nuts for a deck to put that much power out. I didnt even look at the model when i said what i said, thatll teach me a lesson(yet again). Never would have expected that. I guess this dude got a diamond in the rough

well, if you want to go with a different deck and retain that kind of oomph, youll need at least a small amp

Well I think I'll just keep the radio bc like someone said in there posts Ill get 40 watts per channel on the radio and that way I really don't have to run another amp. But I do need help choosing 2 6x9s and 2 6.5s any recommendations?

Ive always had great results with Polk Audio DB series to replace stock speakers on HU power along with 50-75 watts rms for the money

What vehicle is this going in? How long do you think your will keep it the vehicle? I just don't like the single din touch screen so say stick with the sony but if you can still return it what did you pay? even on a super small budget I think I would rather have a cheaper headunit and a aftermarket amp.

cost of wiring kit speaker wire and the quality of amps and rcas you can buy are pretty limited under 150-200 dollar budget. The cheapest head unit worth a **** is 99 dollars, go any cheaper and this sony will sh*t all over it SQ wise. So far thats 130 dollars down the drain for head unit and install accessories. As for amps unless you find some great deal used, you arent gonna find true 50 watts or higher either for how much money you have left. The sony head unit does put in a lot of work and will destroy most cheap head unit + amp setups in terms of loudness and definitely sound quality. Even if you want to add an amp in the future the 5 volt preout is pretty nice as well. People completely underestimate this head unit's capabilities. So no he's not gonna get any better result with a "cheap" head unit and amp. Most "cheap" (under 90 dollars) head units sound like complete garbage with only a 16 bit dac, no time alignment, sh*t eq and sh*t everything else. If the head unit quality is sh*t, the rest of your sound system will amount to sh*T, thats just how important a head unit is.

I used to talk soo much sh*t on sony until I gave it a try on my buddy's setup after seeing the dyno vid, this is a diamond in the rough for basic bassheads and average joes. Decent SQ, good output, good enough tuning if you are just running components or coaxials.

its basically the same power output with a lot more work needed. BTW belva is smaller than other wires. Not to mention 2 volt vs 5 volt pre-outs. Also who listens to the radio nowadays lmfao.
im not even sure if the fm functionality of my deck works because i literally NEVER use that source (im sure it does, and the antenna wire is connected)

i also didnt know if my air conditioning worked for the same reason until my fiancee was in my car and basically demanded that i turn it on. Admittedly, it was around 100 degrees, but im from the south and it doesnt bother me to sweat lol

Yeah I dont give 2 shits about HD radio lol I barely use the radio anyways... But look i have a custom box for my speakers it's not a wedge box or anything its a 3 cubic feet ported box lol. I cut out 2 holes for my rockford 6x8s so basically I have 2 factory Infinity 6x9s in the front 2 infinity 6.5s in the rear and of course my 2 Rockford 6x8s in the box. It's pretty **** loud right now but I plan on getting some 15s in the future so I need louder would my better option be to replace the factory speakers with aftermarket or add 2 more speakers to the amp I have since it's a 4 channel amp also If I run 2 more speakers does that mean i have to run another set of rcas to the amp one for front one for rear? I really do not want to run another set of rcas.

what amp do you have?

But I could still add 2 more speakers and that would be 8 speakers in all.. I also can use the tweeters in the front but there not even hooked up right now plus I'll have to buy new tweeters bc of the paper cone coming apart. Only problem with that is the factory amp that was in my Jeep grand cherokee had a built in tweeter crossover I know nothing about that stuff.. I bypassed my factory amp so I could use the sony head-units power for my speakers

Yeah Im from the south to i live in North Carolina it's like 95 to 100 degrees. When I had a Ford f150 the ac ****** balls so I just rolled the windows down all the time lol.

you have waaay too much going on in your car right now lol. More speakers is not always the best choices. better quality drivers in a proper install wins out a bunch of 6x9s and coaxials all day any day in both loudness and sound quality.
