Upgrade to 80prs and active

So my current setup is a DEH 7900. Front stage Diamond hex 6.5 components passive. Running off a Cadence Q 2000 like so

I am ready to replace the head unit with an 80prs. And replacing the Cadence amp with zapco St 4XP. And perhaps replacing the hex with SSA evil mids and tweets.

Depending whether or not they sound better than the hex. But that's later.

For now I'm just wanting to swap amp and head unit. And getting rid of the crossovers keeping the hex running active

Right now my component amp is running off the front output of the head unit. And my sub amp running off the sub output. Is that how I run the new set-up? I heard somewhere about running my sub amp off the component amp? Teach me Obi-Wan

no you dont do that lol.

top rca is tweeters, 2nd row is midrange and bottom is sub.

I'd say keep the diamond hexs. Too many people that arent satisfied with SSA mid/highs, over hyped as fk imo. I would however try different tweeter positioning so you have a direct on axis line fired right at your ear.

I'd say keep the diamond hexs. Too many people that arent satisfied with SSA mid/highs, over hyped as fk imo. I would however try different tweeter positioning so you have a direct on axis line fired right at your ear.

Yeah I think I'm going to have to make new kick panels give them a little more air space. And try to vent them into the Hood area. I think I'm choking these out right now. But they still sound fantastic . I could imagine how they'd sound if fix the air space and Go Active.

And I have seen a few sets of these evil Mids on OfferUp(3 different sets) considering they've only been on the market for a few months that's not a good sign.and i haven't even opened these mids and tweets yet ... once I do I'm stuck with them.. Perhaps I'll return them and get that SSA db meter I heard it's pretty accurate and easy to use.I might be the most indecisive person car audio has ever seen

yeah definitely just return them and get a meter, much better choice.

sorry too many people unsatisfied with the evils, i cant let someone make a mistake.

All these spl brands like ampere and ssa all making pretty horrible so called "sq" midrange and tweeters that dont sound amazing nor get loud and over hyped AF. They need to stick to what they are good at

I appreciate that Jeff. the funny thing is. I bought these hexs brand new in a box for a hundred bucks. And the guy had four more sets knowing what I know now I would have bought them all
