If by blowing your sub you mean the coil blew, set your gain with DMM. If this sounds foreign to you do a search for the proper way to set your gain. If you are tearing your suspension apart but the coil/s are fine then your box is tuned to high. Have someone build you a proper enclosure tuned nice and low.

You are blowing your sub because you are clipping the hell out of the amp.

At least the sub channel.

You are trying to play the sub louder than it can get cleanly.

You have 3 options.

1) Set the gains correctly and play the sub/amp within its clean power output limits.

2) Build/buy a better enclosure for the sub AND correctly set the gain. Better box = better bass

3) Upgrade to a sub/amp setup that will give you the output you want. (and again, set gains correctly)

o scopes are like $400 but onve you get one you will love it. yes you can hear clipping. clipping is a fancy name for distortion, when i tune by ear i take all the levels to the lowest they can go. set my freq to around 80htz on a music set up and adjust my gain slightly until i hear the distortion and back off a little then set my sensitivity. from there i just tweek the gain and sensitivity with the deck playing at 3/4 volume. take a little practice to get it right. make sure your hatch or trunk is closed while doing this.

personally i havent used a meter to set gains. i used my oscope. but these guys have put it on here a bunch of times so you will find it easily.
