KAC-X520 Install Question

So the Power Connector is where the remote wire would be attached correct?

Also, I have a two month old baby, obviously I don't want to damage her ears. I would like to put in a toggle switch or a button of some sort that would completely kill the juice to the amp. Is this possible? Is there a specific type of switch that I need? Would I put the switch on the remote line or would the switch be inline with the power cord?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

P.S. Would it make more sense to run this amp with one channel per sub, or bridge the amp and rewire the subs to be --O--O-- rather than --O-- / --O--. Not sure if that makes sense. Rewire the subs so that the neg from one is to the pos of the other. I am told this cuts the Ohms in half? What are the benefits of doing this? Can it damage the speakers? Can it damage the amp?

Can't really tell by the picture but I would put the remote wire on the terminal right of the ground.

Find an automotive switch or any and have the remote wire run through that. Or you can just use the pause button or mute or att.

What kind of subs are you using, that is ohm configuration. How did you wire them?

There's a pic of the type of wiring I'm talking about.

As for the subs, they are 12" 700 MAX Q-Power 4 OHM.

In the manual for the amp it says when using the speaker output terminals, running the wiring in a mono (bridged) arrangement to make sure when running multiple speakers combined ohms is at least 2 OHM per channel. Are the lower ohms going to create more stress on the subs?

If none of that makes sense, I apologize. I really.........really don't know what I'm talking about. First time messing with car audio.

On your amp there is a set of three terminals that have "Power In" above them. These connections will be used as follows:

a) Your 12v power connection will attach to the amp input terminal marked 'Batt'

b) Your ground connection will attach to the amp input terminal marked

'GND'

c) Your amp remote turn-on lead from the head unit will attach to the amp input terminal marked 'P. Cont'

For your purpose of quickly killing the amp's power on demand you'll want to put the toggle switch inline on the lead for the remote turn-on circuit (see Item C above). When that toggle is switched to its "On" position it will allow current to flow through the line to tell the amp to turn on when sent the appropriate signal from the HU. When the toggle is in the "Off" position it will keep that signal from reaching the amp and will, in turn, keep it from operating.

As for the best way to wire your subs....since your subs are Single Voice Coil 4 Ohm drivers your only reasonable option with this particular amplifier will be to run one subwoofer per amp channel.

ok, that was my question. I want to get the most out of the amp/subs without causing any damage. Thank you very much for all the help. Was exactly what I needed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

lol
just get a hu with a subwoofer off button, then you will be set to go
If the OP is currently content with the HU he already has a $3 toggle switch and some wire terminals is a considerably cheaper way to go than buying another HU altogether //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
