I've used both brands and would recommend either to people. I owned an older Pioneer Premier and a higher-end JVC. I had no major problems with either of them.

The 9700 is a pretty nice unit, though I would probably prefer the Pioneer.

'Better overall features' is something for you to decide. You shouldn't notice a difference in terms of 'sound quality' between the two.

I have gone through so many different HU's, and Pioneer is definatley still at the top of the game, I currently run Eclipse, because I feel it is a little better, but it did cost me much more

but i want to get my dad a cd player for his boat, i was thinking of going to give him my deh-p6400 and then getting myself a 8400....does anyone think thats a bad idea? should i just buy him a whole new one? i was thinking a 6500 if it was going to be new....

i have a JVC and it blows cause i wanted to get a new deck and looked for JVC, and it was so gay "option wise" to a similarly priced Pioneer. Go for the gusto and get your dad a weather proof bluapunkt, and get you a 9500 with the money you save. Or go balls out and break the bank with the flip out monitor. You can get the flip out clarions touch screens for twelve here. I bet i can find abetter deal online. Or learn how to do double backflips on a bicycle thirty feet in the air and get it for free. Compare options and the pioneers gonna beat it like a retard with a bad attitude and piniatta stick.

I'd take the CDA-7875 of those 3 ... Although you should take into account it's not MP3 and it's a 2001 model ...

Pretty good deal I think, supposed to be a good place to deal with as well. My vote is for Pioneer, but personally don't have anything bad to say about JVC, either.
