JVC CD player problem..

I'm helping a friend install my old JVC unit in his '07 Ion2 and for some reason I can't keep power going to it (apparently). I did up the wiring harness (twice, did it once then took it apart and redid it again to make sure I had all good connections) and every time I plug the wiring harness into the back of the unit, the red power button comes on for 1-2 seconds then immediately shuts off and will not turn on again. Everything is connected, remote wire, grounds, ect.. Anybody have any ideas as to what could be going on here? I had it in my car working like a champ less then a week ago and the unit hasn't been dropped or damaged at all.
