I'd try to find a sa12 on here or something along those lines and find an amp on here thats good for about 1500-2k and throw it in a ported box and call it a day. Maybe even the sa15 or equivalent.

Why waste money on a 2kw amplifier to power a subwoofer that is rated @ 600rms? Stupidity.

I'll sell you (2) 12'' SSA Dcon subs (300w rms each) & (2) ZED Audio Crunch CR150 amplifiers (300w rms bridged each) for $500 + shipping. Everything is brand new in box. I was gonna run 1 amp/sub on the left channel, then the other amp/sub on the right channel, but I no longer have that vehicle.

I don't recommend using that much power for a $500 sub/amp budget. He probably doesn't want to spend another $500 on electrical upgrades.

yeah, I just got done looking for amps hardcore but I was looking for my power at 4 ohm since my 18 is a single 4, so I had to look at some of those bigger amps and just not push them. I got a steal on the hifonics though, only reason I bought it.

Buudy you are lucky if you can fit a dual 15 prefab .. sealed yea and depending on size still wont fit .Ihave the same car and i built a 3.5 cf enclosure and it was a squeeze .. the trunk opening is a issue also width and depth because of trunk hinges.

Build a enclosure for your 12s .. watch the size ..

If you running those type r's make sure you giving them good power ..rms rated or close to it .. pop out you rear 6x9's and get a good set of speakers for the front..possibly a amp for them..

saves you a couple 100 and you would have a giftcard well spent..lots of added bass ..

^^^ Sounds like a good idea. But the 12s i have now are BOSS CX122D, Single voice coil and wayy over rated, I doubt (given the size of the magnet,) that they could even handle 700 watts of true power. Had a BOSS CX1100M, and sold that on craigslist. Snagged a BOSS Phantom 2500 watt mono amp, and didn't see a difference, just sold that to a friend from school for $10 more than I paid.. Now have $520 Budget, but given the above response, doubt I'll spend 300 of it.

Sounds like I'm going to Home depot when I get time. (Since my dad used to work at basically all of them in my city through a vendor company, He knows people there will do me right, without the 20$ tip.)

Have mfr manual for subs and it's vented enclosure specs are 1.2cuft, Sealed 1.0cuft. I did math for prefab box i have (inner measurements came out to .983cuft per chamber.) If I'm using MDF to build a new box should I shoot for exactly 1.2 vented? and how should I go about venting it, slot port, aero, etc..?

Okay, just got done with measuring trunk, and there definitely is not enough room for a dual 15 inch speaker box.

Best bet is to stick with 12s. but I'm not so sure that I need to spend 300$ on subs and 200 on an amp, or vice versa.

Scanning over amazon, it seems I've made the foolish mistake of assuming pouring $$ into a brand name would automatically make the sound 10x better.

The statement: "80% install 20% gear" is sticking in my head.

Thanks to everyone, but I'm just going to get some cheapies, and see what I can do with a box. Rather than sticking with what I got, I'm giving my ****** box+subs to a friend.

Does anyone swear by equipment like Lanzar, BOSS, Sound Storm...?

Lanzar optidrive stuff is ok. All the others are wayyyy overrated. Expect to see about half to a quarter the power they state.

I just bought an older optidrive2 and it stopped working 15 mins after I got it, seems something wiggled loose inside. Damn thing wont come out of protect, but nothing looks fried.

I have no idea what to look for though, I'd really like to get it fixed and sell it, since I got the brutus 2k for the cheap. Its a pretty nice 2 chan, Its the 2402 model.
