Just need an inexpensive alarm that does the job.

I think a lot of members here will advise you to look at Directed Electronics' products (Viper, Hornet, Clifford, etc.).

If I'm not mistaken, the cheapest decent alarm system would be the Hornet 742T, think it's is in the region of just under $100. However, I'm not familiar with US installers' prices, but I think you're going to have to budget twice that amount for labour.

You can save that money, of course, if you do the installation yourself, but I doubt whether your insurance company will acknowledge it.

 
NO!!! get a dei and a good alarm is going to run you $200-$400. you dont want inexpensive. my first alarm the python 460hp was $200 installed at CC i paid $105 and installed it myself.

 
Circuit city has a python a buddy of mine has which is 199. installed I think. That thing does the job, range wasnt to bad, and it is very sensitive. You hit his tires once and the thing beeps giving a warning.

that is the pyton 460hp i had it. it was a good alarm.
