Inductors are crossovers....

I once had a passive crossover hooked to one of my AP's (about 8 months ago) and after about 10 mins of driving and blasting, I started to smell something burning... I looked behind the seat (It was in an S-10 pickup with sub in the bed) and saw that the core had heated up and just about fell out of the hole it melted through the side of the inductor!! What a lesson that was... lol

Never feed a Passive X-over more than 600 watts... They can't take it!

Laminated iron cores are generally used in low cost, low power inductors. Iron core inductors are good for low power crossovers.

And that is exactly what I had in the 6 1/2" Bass tube from shucks...

And the Hifonics is rated at 700 watts @ 2ohms... So I give myself 100 watts leway...

What else... Someone care to fill me in?? Might you listen to my car before acually bashing it??
