Just installed new Odyssey PC1500DT battery...

Ok thanks for the information but my battery was 12.7v when I first DMM it that aspect is fine. I understand my alternator is small, but do you understand theres MANY people running 1.5-2kw off 90a alternators and stock batts with big III getting no dimming and 13.6-13.8v is their lowest drop?... I'm not understanding why my new bigger battery big III and efficient amplifier aren't upto task. Something just doesnt seem right.
1500 to 2000 watts rated and actually putting out that power are 2 different things. 100% efficiency 1500 watts at 14.4 volts is 104 amps. That is not counting the car or the inefficiency of the amplifiers or counting how much power the alt puts out at any given RPM hot or cold.

Well its a DC 1.2k so it shouldnt be that inefficient @ 1 ohm and im only running 1200w dude not 1500-2000... and I understand but still theres no reason i should have dimming...

theres no reason i should have dimming...
With a 90amp stock alt I can probably make it dim a little with my 4x100 a/b amp running at high volumes. Dimming can start with just a slight .5V drop in voltage. I can get dimming with about 700 a/b watts in my truck on some bass heavy music with the voltage dropping into the 13's for a nanosecond...and I have a 160amp stock alt. With my SAZ1500D running at 1/2ohm, I could make it drop to the 12's with ease on burps. The fact is that you'll MAYBE have half of your alt to help support the current draw of your system if you take into consideration the other things running in your car that your alt has to run as well.

Take into consideration the fact that you're running a good size class a/b amp to your speakers and it's easy to see why your little stock alt is having a hard time keeping up with the car and the possibility of a routine 120amp+ current draw that it'll be seeing on bass heavy music. The Big 3 only does so much, maybe helps a few tenths by aiding in quicker current flow...but it's definitely not going to eliminate your dimming.

You have a bad ground or your runs of 0 gauge are too long or poor quality. Not all "0" gauge wire is the same, I found out the hard way. Lots of manufactures are selling something that is the equivalent of 4 gauge thickness and its copper plated aluminum (CCA) or not very pure OFC.

As you have stated, there are lots of people who use 90A alternators in the real world without much issue. I use a 75A alternator in one of my installs with 1200WRMS and rarely run my engine to charge the battery back up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I only charge when I have voltage dropping into the low 12's.

Look at my Signature I run Knuconceptz besides even if I used wire that was 0ga and was actually only like 2-4ga it should still help a lot compared to the 10ga I was running. People seem to forget the big III is not all that i've done I just put in a huge friggin battery too! lol I just can't figure out where my grounds went bad? Bare metal everywhere and ground points are same ones most people use...

I heard that grounding my engine to my batt- is bad because of more resistance? Is this true because maxxsonics grounds to the batt- from the engine and they are pretty smart. I'm just at a loss here and it's too **** cold to do **** to it now. I live in maine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif But yeah I also have a very inefficient amplifier running @ 2 ohm to my speakers I lost the terminal screws to the right channels so I'm running all 4 speakers off 2 channels @ 2 ohm >.

I have had my kicker 1500 at 2ohms very eficient amp huh? Its was also cea certified and at that ohm load with a 150 stock alt with a 2000 kinetik i still saw some dimming from my system. Then i upgraded to a mechman 270ho alt dont see any dimming no more!

Just get a bigger alt and thats it. Just because other people have done doesnt mean you automatically can.
I agree it just ***** man figured my **** would be way more efficient than this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif all the money I put into quality products and still not as efficient as i'd like. oh well time for a 150a cheapo until i get my new jeepmaybe ill get a good 220a fitzall

Exactly **** ***** but thats car audio for you. Good luck on your system once you get the ho alt.

How does your car handle 2kw with stock alt and batt you have similar setup to me but I have this bigass battery do you agree this is bs? lol I still kinda thing its in my wiring somewhere possibly. its not just dimming its massive voltage drop easily below 13.5v

Use a DMM to see what voltage you're actually dropping to. If it's 13V, then that's perfectly normal since the batt isn't going to kick in until then. And depending on how quickly your voltage is dropping, it may drop a little lower than normal.

i have a 110 amp alt. but i also dont go full tilt. i go about 3/4 to full tilt and only while im driving when im at a stop or something i always turn it down.

full tilt it was dropping to like 12.5v it was also only resting @ 12.1v after I tested for awhile then after driving it was 12.7v...
