Just installed a new deck, worked, now nothings working.

New to this site, I was trying to find some help.

Ok, so I was installing the KD-HDR60 deck in my 1993 SL2 Saturn today and got it all set up and working. Everything was working great, was maxing it out hearing how it sounds. Sounded so good.

Maybe 30 minutes later I went to go eat with my family and was listening to How low by Ludacris with the bass pumpin and my deck just shut off. I might as well mention that about a minute before It turned off, I turned on my A/C and then turned it off so that outside air was coming out the vents.

Once I got to the restaurant I plugged in my Factory deck to see if my deck was fried or not and even the factory wasn't working anymore. So when I got home I was checking the wires and fuses but it was very dark so I didn't get much done. Kind of not sure what to do other than call up the local car shop and ask where I should go to get this looked at. It will probably end up costing me over a couple hundred dollars maybe since it should be something electrical.

Highly doubt its ground problem but not 100% sure. This won't help but I only have 2 400watt Pyles in the front doors and 2 300Watt subs in the back.

with these types of problems i would recommend going to a car/audio specialist near you. There are too many variables to discuss online. I got my stereo re-wired and replace for around $50 at a top dollar audio specialist near me. could be worth your time and money.

He's here asking because he's hoping someone has info other than too many variables.

Like he said you probably blew a fuse if neither deck works, check your fuses.

I checked the fuses, I believe number 19 was blown, it was a 5 amp. I checked the manual and it said Chime under it.... And my badboy deck works again! it LIVES!

I really wanted to thank you guys for the quick answers and such. I figured I just needed some good daylight and a clear mind to figure this out. I will definitely come back to this forum, love this place.

So anyways, I plan on getting a 500watt Mono or 2 channel amp pretty soon. Maybe 2 12' kickers for my trunk. Best buy was having a buy 1 get 1 free last week. Missed out...

Glad it was just a fuse and not "too many other variables..", Honestly man I'd check the classifieds here if you dont mind used, I've gotten a lot of my gear from reputable people on here for great deals and saved a good bit of money.

If you want new I saw a decent deal on the SSA site (I thought it was decent personally)

SSA Dcon 12D4 + Sundown Audio SAX-125.2 Combo

2 12" dcon's and an amp for 499, granted I think you could do a lot better in the classifieds, you can get the Dcon subs for $125 new each and get a pretty decent amp for the price difference of $250

would probably sound a lot better than the kickers you're looking at, but that's my 2 cents, you'd still have to get a box built though

That and I'd check your wiring again just to be on the safe side, if you blew a fuse it's possible you had an exposed wire or bad ground that shorted out causing it to blow.
