Just Got Metered-WTF???

ok i got metered yesterday. My setup is one 12 inch kicker solo x in a 4 cube box ported to 35 hz. It is currently being powered by one jbl Bp 1200, i have another but i dont know if it can take two. anyway, my score was only 135.7 at 43 hz. What is wrong with my system? I know it should be way louder. im thinking i have the specs on my box wrong or the mic was broken, it did seem kinda ghetto. it was an audiocontrol by the way. Thanks for the help.....

obviously i know it will go down on a tl, just wondering why it was so low in the first place. anyone wanna check my box design? its 4 cubes after displacement, using two round ports that are 12 inches long and 4 inches wide....i used an online calculator to get those #'s. The guy who owned the shop said i needed a new box with a slot port, but i think he just wanted to make some money. BTW kicker reccomends only 1400 watts in the box i have it in, so i dont think the other amp will do any good..thanks

That sub can easily take both of those amps. Also perhaps you should mess with the tuning on your box.

the sub will take both of those amps for burps only. the solo's are extremely inefficient subs, so the two amps will help a bunch.

also, it's kinda known that aero ports are louder on a mic then slot, but it's easier to get the surface area u want from a slot and it's easier to build. i'd suggest maybe upping ur port area a bit (maybe double it)...

but power is probably ur biggest issue...u need about 4 of those jbl's for the solo to really get going for burps. and again..i wouldn't recommend running both amps daily. i've torn a s10x up running 2500wrms daily to it.

box tuning is too low for a GOOD number, i'd suggest tuning around 45 or so and burping in the mid 50's as a starting point. more port area and power is also good. box placement helps as well, even sub/port placement in relation to one another in the box.

as a reference, a buddy with a Mojo 15 and two Orion 1200d's on it did a 139.7 sealed at the dash on the TL in a WRX trunk. Another friend did a 138.2 with an Orion H2 12 and single 1200d in his x cab Ranger.

yea, that sub is seriously suffocating from port area. and power. if i were you, id hook up two of those 1200.1s for competition, and just use one for daily. get a bigger box, port to ~45hz, put the port facing rear, put the sub facing up, make a port that is roughly the size of the SD of the sub, and burp in the 50's...

you should have a number way above what you scored - but your box is really not working out to well. SOLOx's can take GOBS of power.

yea the guy said im not even close on port area. also, i dont want to tune so high as this isnt really a competition car, i just like loud music. also, both the sub and the port are firing up, is that bad?? I just thought that 135.7 is a really low score with my setup. So with a new box possibly tuned to 40hz with a much larger slot port, it will be louder??
