Isn't the port facing up good in a hatchback?

Try it. It may be a plus

No, you do not want your ports firing into a reflective surface that's only a 1/2" away from the port mouth. It needs room for the air/pressure to escape and reflect away. At that distance alot of the air/pressure will be forced back into the port.
