IMO, leaving isn't enough. I want them to hurt.
I am not trusting enough of the judicial system. But a dog maul...that would be good. And I am not so certain one can be sued so easily for dog mauling a theif...but I have heard "stories" of people B&E, then stubbing their toe and winning a successful lawsuit.

But do you have warning signs for said dog? I'm not sure how those apply in B&E situations, but I'm sure it wouldn't take much for some scum lawyer to turn it.

The best combo is a small dog, and a big dog. The small dog will get all defensive and nip at the person's feet, and once the person kicks the dog, the big dog will come defend. It's a perfect duo.

I think you are exactly right. Little dogs are much better at "alerting" (of course you have to put up with that yippy BS too). My Boxer is plenty strong enough to do some serious damage, but you never know whether she will chew that *** or be content to lie on the couch and watch them walk off with everything else.

this begs he question:

is a thief more likely to come back to your house after they get away if you shot them during the robbery? you know, like to shoot you in anger for shooting him?

its something ive always played out in my head...if i dont shoot him, he'll think im a ***** and come back to rob me, if i do shoot him but dont kill him, he'll come back and try to kill me for shooting him, if i do shoot him and kill him, im going to prison in good ol' california....
