Just found out my girl's pregnant!!!

i will be 20 coming up next year. so still very young but happy about it and i have alot of supporters within the family
congrats, its well worth it man. Ignore the stupid comments. Just man up and take of your own, and get your self in a good position before the baby is born. That was the best advice my father gave me and it gave me a head start. Im 20 with a 14 month old son, and I take care of the business. But do what you gotta do man, and congrats again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have some experience with this situation OP. I had my first son when I was 19. I knocked up my ex when I was 2 months out of HS. Realy bad move for me. I had plans on college and such, but I had to put all of that on hold. I decided to man up and take care of my business (like you are). I decided to marry the bish and make a family. I ended up married for 8 years and had 3 great kids, but if I could do it all over, I would.

Short list of things to know:

1) You will never, ever have enough money. I don't care if you sh!t golden nuggets. If you think you have saved plenty and have everything covered, that is when the unexpected happens. Trust me when I say that NOW is the time to get that second job and save every penny you can. That includes selling off your toys.

2) If you love your girl (sounds like you do), then you need to give her everything she needs. Remember that this is the mother of your child. If she gets pissed of at you for something, there is usually a good reason behind it. I know that seems wack right now, but in time you will see the error of your ways. It takes guys an extra 10 years to realize this.

3) Capture every moment you can on video or pictures. Never think of a day as just any other day. Each moment with your child is worth remembering. Never miss a single school play. Never miss a t-ball game. Take your time to be there as much as you can.

4) Did I mention that kids cost A LOT of $$$? They are worth every cent.

Good luck and God bless you, your girl, and your child.

heres some advice:

Go to your HR person or accountant at your place of employment NAOW and start direct depositing $10/week into a new account at your bank. This is your kid's college, first house.. whatever account. $10/week doesnt sound like much, but it adds up over time, and you wont miss it (unless you make $7/hr, which I feel HORRIBLE for you, your gf AND the kid if thats the case). Then, if/when you can afford it, change it to 15 or 20/week.

Start saving extra money now for the kids birth, plan ahead have money available to buy stuff. Diapers and formula can break you! Encourage your gf to breast feed, theres a HUGE savings, and health benefits for the baby are well worth it.

Be a fun father, spend LOTS of time with your children, it is very rewarding to see the new things they learn daily.

Some morons in here for sure.

First off congrads, yes it will change your life, but it will not end it. You don't need to sell everything off for the record unless you were struggling before the kid, then yes I say you need to get an extra job and sell your shit. I may not be young, but just had my first child and I sold my stuff to be on the safe side all for nothing. Ended up putting a system back in my car after a couple months.

People say it is hard and to a point it is, like the sleepless nights while she is young, but that goes away after awhile in most cases. I have made it on a 30k job and my wife has a decent job, but we don't have a ton of money and we do fine and have some nice stuff. (Although times got tough a couple months back, but had nothing to do with the baby.)

Best advice to you is stock up on diapers, diaper wipes and get ready to go through some sleepless nights. It has changed my life for the better. Oh yeah, I also have two step kids plus a baby and still do fine with better times ahead.

Good luck and have fun.

I'm not reading 4 pages but seriously bro, congrats! Put no one (well except god) before your little guy/girl and just get ready for a change. Yes, it's HARD...yes you get almost NO sleep....but I swear I have never loved anything more than I love my son. He was my first and born 6 weeks ago (Oct 28th).
It's just amazing. You get to watch this little thing change and grow and you get to make them into the person they will be.

You know, in a way...it's very much like car audio //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif sure the equipment helps, but its all in the install (the time you take to really make them into the right person).
The time actually flys by, Mine is almost 2 and time is flying

I agree with this 100%. you can never have to many diapers and wipes!!! And get yourself a good diaper pail to put them stinky diapers in that your gonna have( or the entire house is going to smell!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
