just found out....(3k$)

Out of pocket $ or student loan $? Subsidized or un-subsidized? 30k and you're getting 3k back....yeah that doesn't add up WTF am I doing wrong lol. I made more than you did, but put 5,600 into income tax alone and I'm paying almost 2k?
out of pocket, well its money my grand dady left me. but its all gone now

I make around 35k a year.Have one child but cant claim her (***** *** babys mamma)

I either have to pay money or get like maybe 500 back.

It sucks but I cant figure out how to get anymore money back.
sorry to hear that man

Some people here might benefit from going to see someone at an H&R block or something.
Not my fault that according to uncle Sam I pay too much in taxes but people who do nothing can get earned income credit and get 1,500 right off the bat. Everything makes taxes it seems, and the stupid stimulus they are passing just means I get to pay even more now....yeah.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I get claimed as a dependent so I got like $360 back total state and federal. I made around 9k last year I think. I would be getting around $1100 or something if I wasn't claimed as a dependent.

you get 8950 a year for free untaxed at the end. then they tax you ont he rest depending on your bracket. whatever they didnt take out of the remaining after the 8950 is what you get back. if that makes sense. my mom worked at H and R block so she does my taxes every year for free. and that was an easy way of explaining it.

thats why you need to tell your parents not to claim you. now all the money you would have got is in there pocket

good to know

A lot of it depends on age, dependents, and what you put in to income tax. Take my g/f for instance, she only worked like 4 months of claimed income as she was a nanny for 1/2 the year and that was under the table. So when she filed I filed her taxes last night my friend and I did all we could to get her more than the $326 that she paid into her income tax and couldnt. Sadly if you don't have the deductions and you don't make much you'll just get what you paid into income tax back. The other way to get a decent amount is if you do not make much but you qualify for the earned income tax which automatically gets you like 1500 bucks. Sadly my g/f is 20 and has no kids to claim so she can't get it, whereas her twin sister has a 2 year old so was able to claim the child, earned income credit and got almost all that she put into income tax back.

Not that easy most of the time. If you're parents pay 50% or more of your yearly expenses or provide medical insurance they can claim you. Most of my friends will be claimed through 07' as their parents provided medical or car insurance or both which means they have to claim you, at least on the medical side.
