Finally after going back and forth on what subs to get I decided to go with the TREO SS 12's. I got a good deal on them a local shop. I almost ordered the 15xxx but the rep on the phone told me he didn't not recommend them because I was a little "short on power." The 15xxx is rated at 1600w rms, the treo SS 12's are rated at 500w rms each.

I really like the Treo SSX but they are rated at 1800w rms.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I will be running a Memphis Belle rated at 1100x1 at 1 ohm on the class D and 75x4 on the class A/B side.

I will see in a few days how everything sounds. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

The XXX would really love at least 1600 wrms.
You can run it with less but itll leave you wanting more.
Thats what I thought. I'm not planning on upgrading my amp anytime soon so I got a pair of subs that I could drive hard with the power that I have.

I will be running the Treo SS 12's on a Memphis Belle. Let you know soon how they sound.

I don't know why people still hype this myth about subs "needing" their RMS power. Just doesn't really make any sense to me at all.

I'd take the single XXX over the pair of SS's, at ANY power level. They will have far less distortion at any output level.

You don't need 1600w watts to benefit from this difference.

If you really must maximize your power, then you may want to consider getting a Brahma 15 instead. They have a more compliant suspension, along with more Mms, which gives them better low frequency efficiency.

However, the audible difference between 1100w and 1600w is not much at all. You are looking at a difference of at most 1.5dB, and that is only true on flat BL woofers like the XXX, Brahma, and W7, because other drivers will already be suffering from BL compression, and won't even give you that much of a difference in output.

Instead of accepting what people say, even if a particular person works at a company, always at least ask yourself "Does that really make sense?"

Don't confuse the argument with the person, it only results in the inability to seperate truth from unfounded opinions...

I'm not worried about it anymore. I'm very happy with my new subs.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

yea really ...... fat people may starve from one hamburger a day but they still work just fine. it doesnt NEED any more than 10 watts or so .... it can just hold more and benefit you if you can push it that much
