Just bought a sub and

I think it's ****ed. The sub isn't exactly locked up but when I push down on the cone there is some resistance and it makes sort of a crunching sound. I have no dmm to test the coils... I'm assuming the sub is no good?

misaligned coil is what it sounds like, maybe it got beat around during shipping.

misaligned coil is what it sounds like, maybe it got beat around during shipping.

It was packed very well. I doubt it was during shipping.

could also be the spider, if its ripped at the base of the cone it will make that noise as you are pushing it back through the hole.

if there are cooling vents in the basket, look and see if there is any visiable damage to the coil.(unwound, burnt, rubbing marks...)
