I just bought a 12" Pioneer sub TS-W309D2 from Best Buy on sale for $40 thinking it was a good deal (was it? lol). it's a 400w rms 2ohms sub and I'm having a hard time deciding which amp to get. I understand adding just a sub, I should get a mono amp and from my noobish research, I've come up with two amps to choose from: the Kenwood KAC-8105D and the Alpine MRP-M500. both amps are similar in specs and I don't know which to choose or which one is better. are these even the right amps for me? are there any other amps I should be looking at? I'm just looking for a reasonably priced amp to properly handle the Pioneer. This will be connecting to my '12 Accord SE stock radio. any help would be appreciated, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

No experience with that particular pioneer sub, but get the alpine amp.

Get plans off a site sponsor and take the plans to someone to build, or find someone in your area that knows what theyre doing.

Sounds like you dont have any experience so have a professional install the system for you but buy everything yourself online or off users here, itll more than likely be cheaper that way.

No to both amps. Neither are 1 ohm stable. Get a good small mono amp that will do 400-500 rms @ 1 ohm. wire in parallel and put in an enclosure tuned mid 30's. And I actually think you got a pretty good deal, imo. I'd put a setup like that in a friends ride if he wanted to a lil bump for cheapz. nice find.

the 1 ohm stability isn't really necessary if you're only installing that one sub. as far as what amp to get it depends on how much u wanna spend, ebay has your kenwood for $120 and your alpine for $142 and another comparable amp is the rockford fosgate r500.1 which ebay has for $145. it really depends on how deep your pockets are

it's a d2 sub, sir.

Dont post if you don't know what you're talking about.

The sub is a dual 2 ohm, so he can either do 1 ohm or 4 ohms, and it's easier to find a mono amp that does it's power at 1 ohm than 4 ohms.

edited last part

He could always get an A/B amp on the cheap and wire to 4ohms. Not big power anyway and he'll get some SQ out of it.

As stated before, go ahead and get a nice enclosure designed/built for your your sub and car. That way you maximize output.

Its either 4 or 2 ohms load on that whatever amp you get. at 500-800rms since it states peak is 1400. You can get a mono block amp or a 2 channel capable of up to 800 rms. clean power at 4 ohms would be best. but a 1 ohm stable amp is ok too if it does that needed power at rms. I ran the older IMPP subs in sealed and prefap boxes and it sounds awesome. I would think that this could sound awesome in a 2cube box tuned to 34 or so.

Op just go with the Alpine MRP-500 for your amp if you're already considering it.
Yea the P500.1 would work, not the R500.1

What are you even talking about? The amp the OP wanted is the MRP-M500.1, which is what I was referring to. Yeah I left out an M but going by the OPs post you should know what I mean...

Nvm, i see your response was to the first quoted post. What was the point of even quoting my post? lol
