Just a little joy vent...

Ok, so feburary 1st 2008 I started the long application process toward the United States Naval Academy. I was deemed academically, physically, and medically qualified. I received presidential, both senatorial, and a congressional nominations. I was accepted to every other college i applied to, and have received small scholarships to each of those.

My main "back up plan" was to join ROTC at one of those 5 colleges i was accepted to. I went through that whole process and began the long, anxious waiting period. I have yet to hear from the Academy yet, which is still my hope and dream, but the nervous period of not knowing what im going to be doing for the next 4 years was really starting to get to me.

I get home from work this morning, and i check the mail to find a letter from the University of South Carolina. I received a Valedictorian Scholars Award, which in combination of two other scholarships, pays for half of a 4 year engineering degree there. I call my dad to tell him, and he informs me my recruiter called to congratulate me upon receiving an Marine ROTC 4 year scholarship to University of South Carolina.

I now know, that if my first choice doesnt come through, I can go through a 4 years, for mechanical engineering, at USC, and owe absolutely nothing! Actually, MAKE money while in college! I'm just a little pumped right now haha. Thanks to those that read this, and for those who dont, some clifs.

CLIFS:

Applied to lots of colleges, USNA being #1

ROTC to 1 of 5 schools being second choice

Received full scholarship, in combination of Marine ROTC to University of South Carolina

Can get a degree and join the Corps for free! Very excited!

Added bonus: Parents and myself who cant afford it, don't have to go into debt!

I know man, I'm so ready!

I mean, If it saves me position in this wonderful place....

Thanks man, no matter where i go, I'm going to join the Corps... Id just rather go to school first so i might be able to fly.
DUDE, for sure fly if you can. you'll never regret that (unless you crash & die)

A+ for wanting to be an officer, D- for wanting to be a Marine. Nothing wrong with it, but do you know what your getting into?
USNA is my 1st choice, I would probably still go Marine though. Yes I do, been around it my whole life, and everyone whos helped me get to this point has given me their Pros and Cons toward it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Fixed wing, FA-18. Both are great lol, but I prefer fixed wing. My uncle flew helos for about 12 years i think it was.

Lol actually, you can do vertical drops, and short assisted takeoffs with JSF //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif No where near as fast or cool as helos though....

You started a thread about how wonderful your life is? Fuck you, I'd rather see others suffer.
Well, i'm not there yet. I could get terminally ill, or wreck my car and become paralyzed neck down and all my hopes and dream be shattered?

As it has for a lot of people, these last few years haven't been too wonderful... I save you the details.

lol

Props man...i applied for USNA and got a letter of assurance...missing a nomination...never got it cuz it was full for my island...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but ended up going to OU. USC and USNA should give different but great experiences
