Im gonna go alittle off the car stereo topic (while it still kinda is when looking at it from component speakers viewpoint) but anyways heres my question- Lets say im looking to make a pa now ive got a 500w 6-8 ohm stable amp. great. now this would be a 2 speakers setup, one mid-low range 400watt rms speaker and (now this is where i dont fully grasp the concepts here) about a 150esk rms supertweeter for a horn. now how is power distributed through these, how should they be wired, what impedence should the tweeter be, and why doesnt the tweeter get ***** by the wattage being fired into it like it looks like it would be??

lets say two but is the crossover the 1 keeping the watteage going to the tweeter low?? so they just sorta balance out and if so how can you tell if its a match pair like if youve got a 400 watt rms woofer and a 20 watt tweeter

so does that mean the max wattage you can input is governed by the lowest wattage speaker? or do you say get an 8 ohm tweeter and 6 ohm woofer to sorta balance out...i just dont get how the tweeter doesnt get killed trying to keep up with the woofer

almost seems like crossovers made for pas do control output to the tweeters

Eminence pxb board-only crossovers are a lower cost alternative to the "cabinet ready" models and are targeted specifically for custom cabinet projects as they do not include the terminal cup, input connectors or L-pad found on the "cabinet ready" models. They feature advanced circuit design to both preserve the crossover and your drivers. A benefit of the design is to form a voltage divider across the high frequency driver. The high-pass protection uses custom-built aerospace lamps. The tungsten filaments effectively track the program material, dynamically maintaining a safe maximum current level to the high frequency driver without introducing distortion. This circuitry provides smooth 3:1 analog compression during input overload conditions over 250 watts RMS. At full drive level approaching clipping, the electrical attenuation to the protected high frequency driver is -4.5 dB. In every way, Eminence pxb crossovers are a technically superior product. For use with 8 ohm drivers.

If you want to control the power going to the tweeter separately from the woofer you could wire them up to a separate channel on the amp and then adjust gains to your liking.

that 20 watt tweeter was just an extreme example, but what would you guys say would be a good speaker-loudspeker setup for a pa
