I've been doing construction/carpentry for about 9 years now and it seems to be going nowhere... I make on avg between 17-18k per year and i feel like i should be on welfare or some sh!t.. Sick of living check to check and not being able to spend a lil extra and have some fun once and a while... I like my job, but the company is a smaller residential non union company, so pay is'nt that great.. So my question is, what are some good jobs to look for that i wont need a masters degree for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif to make a lttle extra.. Theres a bunch out there but i cant think of any at the moment..

For example.. My girlfriend went through about a year of school and is getting a job next spring as a respritory asst/cna, and she'll be making $21/hr with a .25 raise every 6 weeks.. So any ideas please shoot them out to me..

I dont have a college degree...

Honestly people say that you will make more with a degree. I dont disagree with that statement, however I am doing pretty well.

I work in merchandising for CompUSA. There are only two of us that do not have a degree. Were I work common sense prevails. The CEO and COO of my company dont even have a degree.

i went to college and got a 2 yr degree in building construction/management and blueprint design... But the older i get the more i feel this is'nt the job i want to be slaving over the rest of my life.. There is a big company here that im trying to get into and after a 2 yr journeymans i'd be makeing 32.59/hr full benifits.. But even tho i know a few ppl that work there it's still going to be near to impossible to get in

oh and, 25g's is NOT enough to live off of well. the 35 grand i can make right after graudating college wont even be a "lot". 800-1000 for a single bedroom place, 200 or so for groceries, 100-200 for gas, put aside 200 a month for car REPAIR, not custom stuff, but REPAIR, plus the shit you never think of ALWAYS takes atleast 200, it never fails. thats 1800 a month for stuff you budget in, theres always more. so u figure 35000 net is 2916.67 a month..thats a grand extra a month IF its net pay, but its not its gross, so u MIGHT get like 2400 a month.

But if anyone has some ideas, please, throw them out there .. Job ideas that is.. Not to tell me to go to school //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .. I wont mind going back but i just need something to go back for, and i cant think of anything now

**** hourly pay. professionals dont get payed by the hour IMO. thats skill/labor jobs. iplan on making a SALARY when im done with school.

go for business, then apply at the social security office locally. better yet, go there in a suit and tie (or nice button up and tie) and ask if there are any positions as like a paper pusher or something. i bet you money you make more than you do now and get WAY better benefits

well im barely 19 an in my 2nd year of college so i'm just workin at fedex for now,

but my parents both don't have degrees, and my dad makes 25hr-ish plus as mch overtime as he wants workin at some forklift repiar place, and myu mom works for an insurance company called travelers, and gets paid a nice salary, dont know exactlyu how much but enough to live on her own w/ 2 kids. she gets all kindsa benifits, like dollar for dollar 401k where they match watever u put in your 401k, health, car, etc etc.

theres' good jobs out there that dont require degrees, u just got look around,

Yea i know 25k isnt much but the extra 750/month helps out quite a bit.. Especially if there s no side jobs to work on.. btw the side jobs are not in my 17k/yr, there extra.. I mean sh!t , a guy i know makes about 2k-2500/ a month delivering chinese food for god sakes .. This thread is just depressing:eyebrow:

$35k is $1346 every 2 weeks. Take out ~23% in taxes and you are at $1040 every 2 weeks $2080 a month. Not a lot in the scheme of things here in Dallas.
